I disagree. It was an element of experience and memory, neither "strategy" nor "skill" enter the equation.
Well, from my point of view, experience and memory IS part of the whole strategy and skill. A good player knows the environment and how to react in all circumstances. The lack of an indicator adds tension and a sense of exploration to the world.

You do realize we are on the same side here. I think all of us still playing want the game to succeed. Telling them to leave and go play other games doesn't sound very productive. Keep in mind, Rift is enjoying a very good launch, and there are some rather large titles slated to hit this year. SE doesn't have alot of time to retain players who are on the fence.

As far as 1.16, I'm on the fence. I'd like to see the sidequests have more engaging objectives. After cutting my teeth on countless dodo's, I was rather dissapointed to have my first quest essentially be "Kill 8 dodos".. Seriously? Please tell me these first quests are just testing the quest infrastructure and that something a bit more inventive is on the horizon. I don't care what plants the stupid dodo's are eating now that makes them a nuisance. Give me a Lalafel outpost that was overrun by a beast tribe who I need to eradicate, perhaps kill their leader and return to somebody with his head in a bag.

Other things I really liked. It may not be perfect, but the new targetting options have made things a bit less hectic when in combat, for me at least.

Things like the Lalafel hairstyle change... As a player, I see this as frivelous. As a developer, I understand that with each patch you want to get a bit of the big, medium and small in there, lest they be forgotten.

Obviously, it's not the perfect patch. I disagree with a few things:

    1) Aggro icon. It just requires common sense to know what enemies may or may not aggro. Really. If it's big and vicious looking, it might aggro.

    2)
Non-hostile enemies that previously followed or fled from a PC when approached no longer do so.
    2) I don't think that was even necessary. I'm sure it caused problems for AoE Attack Abilities, but this makes the player think and pay attention. I thought it was also cute and funny when mobs approaches you and just stare at you as you attack.

However, overall, I thought this update was good because it is a step in the right direction. Sure we may get some 'lousy' sidequests, but they're just small, sidequests, I knew it wasn't going to be anything epic or special, if anything I though it would be mostly "fetch me this, fetch me that, and I'll tell you a story and give you this." sort of thing.

I also thought the SP nerf was a little unnecessary but the SP/EXP gain from the local leves were pretty damn huge, so it didn't really surprise me.

The changes to mob sized I thought was great, and personally I feel one of the best part is the change to the way items deteriorate, which makes even more sense. if it's designed for your class and level, of course it will deteriorate less. Also, the fix to local leves was highly needed. Glad that you can choose your rank for it now.

Umm who is disagreeing with me? If they don't know how long it takes to render cs. Not my fault.

And silly pills is just something I made up. It is not a drig reference in reality. I could say stupid ignorent trolling idiot, retarded or anyone of those derogitory terms.

It is fact that CS do take a long time to make. There is not a magic "put cs in" button. Even more so with SE using motion capture for this game.

For example it took 2 years to make "how to train your dragon" There are so many steps to do to make a 1 min CS. They are basically mini movies. Even if they used the game graphics you still have alot to do.

And it was actually rare for FFXI to have a CS for a side quests. PPl are looking back to ffxi wiyh rose colored glasses. Most ppl here stop playing years ago. I just recently stoped playing.

Your problem is constantly comparing quests to FFXI. Stop.

FFXI had WAAY more content to keep you busy that quests didn't NEED to give SP. FFXIV is a different boring linear beast.

I liked every aspect of it, especially the targeting, i mean the side quests could have been a bit more less leve like, but it's still better than nothing ^^

You might as well, if that's what it means. "On silly pills" sounds to me like a cutesy way of saying "smoking crack", and I read it as if that were exactly what you said.

Ok so I just saw two youtube vids about 1.16

I think you guys are to picky.

1 The aggro Icon is really not that bad to me. I like it. And I'm a long time ffxi player, I barely played WoW and I'm am not a person who enjoys eady mode. Amd infact for me is easy to ignore and I have ADD.

2 sidequests do not need cs for that amount of text. The fact the npc appears to be talking should be good enough. And side quests are good to do inbetween levequests since they have no effect on fatigue.

3 I like the larger mobs makes me think of ffxi. Some of the ffxiv mobs i seen in vids were too tiny. Like those marmets or rats. Sorry but how epic is it to kill a tiny rat? Not very.

4 larger icon for the LS bazaar and w/e the hammer thing is a non issue. It help I think. I like seeing details on stuff and its hard to see shield patterns if its tiny. Imo bazaar icon is about the same size as in ffxi.

So personally I have no negetivity on 1.16. And really think if you have such an issure ur too picky to please.

Hmm what was the purpose of this thread is what i wanted to know? To create something that everyone joins in on and bash SE some more? How fast do you think it is possible to turn a disaster around before making more mistakes and hearing more FFXIV = Fail? Damn give the team a fucking chance already. We know what they are doing and working on for the most part to chill out and come up with ideas or suggestions to help. Did you really expect the second patch to be OMG AMAZING! Why continue bashing something that the world already agreed is a pretty turd? If your not coming up with good ideas then just go somewhere else please. I for one want people to stop being trolls and try and find solutions and great ideas to help the dev team know what we would like or how to make the game better. Everybody is bashing the damn aggro icon when all SE needs to do is make it optional.

I thought that SE wanted our feedback, and discussion? Did I read that interview excerpt wrong?
