There could be several reasons to why content seems to be coming in slowly. They could still be having problems with their engine. Something that no one is going to be told or explained. Why would the development team explain their hoop jumping in the development process? To have players jump ship earlier than they want you to?

There could be no problem at all and the game just needed a catalyst to propel their content, make sure everything is cohesive to the already implemented world, and bug free.

Also, I don't know how people can sit there and act like re-development is as easy as one, two, three. Creating a system and it's foundation is miles easier than replacing it into the already implemented world. Since you cannot do this without affecting so many different aspects to the game, you have to make sure everything lines up with this new system. Rather than building this system when starting anew and then working off of that. The balancing in those sort of situations are much easier than what they are doing now.

I totally agree, I said something like this in one of the similar threads like this one

Most of the intellectually capable players have been saying this in one form or another since the forums were open. It just about the time it's going to take for the other irrational thinking players to come to this realization. It is known that the game was released in a horrible state. It is known that the development team gained new members and that others were switched to different departments. Now it's time to focus on what is the rational and most likely reason for content to seem, "slow".

We don't have a direct line to the development team even when speaking their language. Everything has to be speculated using intelligent arguments and thought. Unfortunately, that certainly isn't happening most of the time, and while I am pretty sure that won't exactly change, I plan on spewing practicality through the forums till I'm blue in the face. You know, the same way vesp does things. Only, using more brain mass.

Wow... I leave for a few hours and I come back to thirteen pages of people trying to justify and explain the intellectual recession.

I understand that there is a scarcity of resources, but is it really so dire that we cannot even ask for something as basic as linkshell management and jump?

I mean, really. You guys all miss the point and just regurgitate SE's slogans back at me.

After that has been achieved they can start worrying about the smaller things and the wants and needs of players, but first things first they need to fix the things that make the game unsuccessful.
I think his point is more then valid and looking at the communication, their future plans (a lot of these points would have been fixed already with a normla hotfix update by most other companies in the mmo market months ago), etc. it doesnt really look like they really have a big masterplan. Looking at their surveys says it all imho.
Its not that players had a lot of choices. It was all black and white and no room for ideas. Instead they are asking us for ideas in the forums, which we don't get answers to. Well sometimes but its pathetic and vague usually.
And honestly... comparing it to other current mmos, updates come much faster if needed its really just sad and extremely slow. By the time they fixed ffxiv, there will be other developers bringing out the real NEXT GEN dx 11 mmo, with outstanding graphics, story and a user friendly engine, who deserves the name "next gen mmo".

You think im exaggerating? Lets hope im soo wrong... but looking at the future patches and plans... i might be right.

Linkshell management would be great and feels necessary, jump, do we REALLY need jump? I always thought it was weird seeing people in full plate armor jumping 5ft off the ground and doing flips and stuff. Regardless i would rather have some dungeons or instances etc before being able to jump or run around on a choco (especially since you can just teleport to where ever you need to go)

Jump doesn't have to be implemented in such an unnatural way.

Also, again you are trying to justify prioritisation of BASIC features. They shouldn't have to prioritise the implementation of basic features.

They should just get more staff. Perhaps you can make a case that "too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the FFXIV" but too few obviously hasn't worked either.

I always found it weird that people wear plate armor all day, days at a time (months, years!? (1hr = 1 game day!)), I can walk up walls!? There are no bathrooms!? I've had like 30 meals so far playing and my Miqo'te somehow isn't bloated up like a balloon, there are dragons that shoot energy beams out of their mouths!? But yeah, I guess jumping is pretty unrealistic compared to everything else in the game.

    :P

Just a small aside. Dragons don't shoot energy beams in this game. Not any that I've encountered anyway.

I fought a drake the other day and it shot a bunch of sticks at me... but I guess that's even weirder!

I think your trying to say you jumping. Were you one of those night elves in WoW who couldnt go anywhere without spaming spacebar nonstop? =p'
Does this mean you would rather be able to jump first and then have new content also? XD
