    Lets talk Aurum Vale

    Leveling one of my alt classes to 50, my warrior, and I switched Grand Companies so I could get some seals (hate the cap). In order to progress to 2nd Lt, they changed the requirement to Aurum Vale. First off, I personally think that AV is a bit over tuned. So I queue up. What follows is utter horror.

    I do about 20 groups, all failures of one way or another.

    Got a Scholar heals? Get ready for a bad time.
    Don't have CC? Get ready for a bad time.
    Got dps who don't focus properly? Going to take a while.
    That dungoen timer? I had 3 groups who it ran out on due to various wipes.

    Locksmith is a fail if you have a SCH healer. Mistress is the same.

    My biggest complaint with Coincounter is the the lack of red PBAOE warnings. They do help people who aren't familiar with the mechanics.

    Basically AV is a good example of what a dungeon should not be. Requires a certain group setup, required for advancement, and a bit on the long side.

    So what did I end up doing? I called the old FC and got a Relic +1 PLD tank to go with my Relic WHM. Thinking we're going to wreck this place. AND WE STILL HAD ISSUES. Due to the scale down there were times where I went, oh Sh!t. Because we had DPS who couldn't focus for crap, on Mistress I ended up using Holy on the eggs. Timer at the end? About 15 min.

    yeah... Aurum Vale is quite awful... especially for Scholars
    I think they should add 20 more minutes
    most of the time we could not finish that dungeon was because we run out of time

    I was considering switching GC until the other day when I watched a friend try to make it through with her whm. It was painful to watch and I felt bad when she turned to me looking like she was about to cry asking "what am I doing wrong?" The problem, from what I saw when I was paying attention, was the party makeup. Nearly every group was whm, pld, drg, mnk.
    The only response I had was "bad luck?"

    Did it on my SCH several times. For SCH it's just more about positioning then it is for a WHM who just throws a Regen up on DPS and can further focus on the MT. AV is ridiculously easy if you got competent people...with lackluster players it's a nightmare. I've prolly seen more first timers succeed on WP and AK relatively easy than on AV.

    I switched GCs only to remember they switched the required dungeon to AV....11 days and i can go back to the Adders....Only finished once.....barely pt makeup: me (whm) Pally, Bard, and BLM, all i70 +1 relics....perhaps make AV 50 and AK 47....

    How I see the new abilities:
    Asylum - Get ready for my holy spam because that's the only healing you gonna get.
    Aero III - I guess I should put some dots up before holy spamming.
    Assize - I need more MP to spam holy even more, also stop getting hit in the face.
    Tetragrammaton - I guess I should heal that tank now.

    The problem for SCH's is you can't debuff your pet and gold lung kills them quickly.

    My first run of the place was PLD/SCH/SMN/SMN. Only time I've ever seen three arcanists in a group before... We also simply couldn't figure out how to deal with the third boss between the utter lack of meaningful AoE (syncing at 49 is just cruel) and pets dropping to burrs they can't cleanse.

    Ended up breezing through it later on with WAR/WHM/BRD/SMN.

    Would love if the instance timer was a little longer (I generally find that if someone drops group or if there's any major hiccup the timer becomes insurmountable) and if the undodgeable debuffs didn't effect summons.

    I guess maybe they could change that one excessively large trash pack that I've seen a few groups wipe on too.

    I never really understood why people had trouble with the second boss though. His gimmick is pretty straight forward, only trouble I ever had was ranged DPS aggroing the boss because of all the time the tank had to spend bobbing out of melee.
