A problem like what they're talking about with it constantly failing? No I haven't. I've socketed multiple sets without ever failing once. And on the sets where I did fail it was maybe 4 times at best. Why? because I don't spam socket ._. Enchanting is when the issue comes in.
Don't think any ff game has enchanting.
I don't like this gem/enchanting system or whatever you call it. This is one of the reason WoW is reducing the amount of gems and enchants for gear, just too much of a hassle!
PS- HASSLE DOES NOT MEAN LACK OF SKILL! IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THINGS CONVENIENT FOR PLAYERS, THE MMO WILL DIE!
I agree, the materia system is joyless, and needlessly restrictive. Hell most of the gear you'll be using at end game doesn't even utilize it, and the stuff that does is hardly necessary. Like the chocobos, and gear dying, it seems poorly thought out and implemented.

Wow, am I glad I'm not the only person who thinks the current materia system is useless and extremely restrictive...
In its current state, you can only meld the lower quality gears with an extremely restricted amount of stats you can give to a certain item...
And then for some reason the best gear can not have materia...
When it should be the other way around.
for example imo how it should be
White non HQ items should have 1 materia slot.
White HQ and green quality items should have 2 materia slots
Blue quality items should have 3 Materia slots
and finally Purple Gear should have 4 materia slots.
sure keep some stat limitation so that people don't blow for example their HP pool through the roof. but as it is now, i dont really see the point of even using materia.
it might be nice to have the option to display what the caps for an item are so that when melding it does not take forever to find what stats can be modified. While the Item team realizes you’d like to see more uses for materia in amplifying item stats, they clarified that there are currently no plans to change the stat caps. The way the system works, each item follows a hierarchy and adding materia to any item, while improving its stats, will not change it to an item above its level.
Some people in Aion had very very good RNG when it came to socketing and enchanting, then there were the rest of the player base, I knew this one girl in my legion that could socket six slot gear without fail most of the times, I failed 5 manastones on the first slot of my armor, that socketing and enchanting system is one of the main cause of aion's demise, its one of the few games I've seen where you can spend millions and end up worse off than you were.A problem like what they're talking about with it constantly failing? No I haven't. I've socketed multiple sets without ever failing once. And on the sets where I did fail it was maybe 4 times at best. Why? because I don't spam socket ._. Enchanting is when the issue comes in.
So you want to start over from zero everytime your socketing fails and have to spend $25 real life money just to get things to socket properly? Because that's how it works now in Aion. Enough for people to rage quit the game and threaten law suits for violation of their own terms of service. No Thanks. You can keep it.
