Misinformation is getting more and more serious in the tank forums by the day. Tell you what, why don't you call all your raid members to get full Craftable Accessories and make them meld 9-10 Vit just so you can have an easy life. Well that 5.5k Lancer couldn't possibly die right?

Defense factors into eHP so no, unless the gain in eHP is greater with the VIT.

If you're trying to increase your survivability its:
EHP(Def/MDef/VIT) >>> Avoidance(STR/DEX/Parry)

There may be a point at which it may be desirable to sacrifice some minimum amount of VIT for some maximum amount of avoidance, however due to the low effects of avoidance and the relatively low eHP compared to other games, this point is not here in i90 gear. I did some napkin math a few threads back on that if you want to check it out.

HOWEVER this conversation seemed to stem from the desire to increase dps at the explicit cost of tanking stats.

If you are completely comfortable with your ability to tank content AND your healers are completely comfortable with healing said content at your current level of survivability, then trading in DPS stats for tanking stats is an option.

Just be aware that you are trading guaranteed survival boost for a dps gain, and that the small avoidance gain should not factor in to this trade. I personally can't see doing this as MT on Twintania as any increase to the margin of error should far outweigh the minimal dps gain, however I do switch to dps accessories while OTing on Twintania as the burst is almost nonexistent for the OT.
