You'd understand Sephiroth can regenerate himself.
Not only were his genes spliced with some weird demonic looking alien,
he was a freak of nature science project.

Everytime Sephiroth dies, he enters the lifestream. Because of his biology,
certain conditions can allow him to come back to life.
Sephiroth actually died more than once in Final Fantasy 7.

And that Lifestream is on the planet Gaia, which is not the planet Hydaelyn. If the world of Hydaelyn turns out to be the same world as FFVII, it would have to take place in FFVII's past (before Jenova arrived to mess things up) or in FFVII's future, where everyone in the FFVII cast is dead...

Well technically the furthest forward title we've seen in ff7 is Dirge of Cerberus...which definitely didn't end the story, so he could use cloud if he wanted. (yay for cliffhangers that most likely will never get resolved).

I'm not saying it would be a good idea, I'm mostly indifferent about it. If the content is fun and it adds cool looking gear then I'm all for them adding it, if it's boring or repetitive or just shoves the characters in for the sake of it then I'm less interested.

That said there's already precedent for cloud to go world hopping, he did it in tactics, who's to say he didn't show up in ivalice before he made it home after tactics.

- No, for putting any previous FF titles characters in the game as cameo appearance.

- Yes, for putting new characters inspired by old FF characters. Example: Nael Van Darnus

Speaking of him. Nael van Darnus was the Eorzea counterpart of Sephiroth. From his Legatus number VII. The meteor project, the flame scene and him going crazy. If you want to look for Sephiroth, then just look for Nael. I'd much rather see Nael appear again than Sephiroth.

Lightning's appearance worked because she had something to do with The Void (she's voidsent) which helped promote LR:FFXIII (kinda not considering the sales/fewer copies compared to its predecessors), killing two birds with one stone.
Remember the outcry on the beta forums with that one issue some had: immersion. Which Yoshi-P took seriously.

So yes, having Cloud/Sephiroth appear in Eorzea would make no sense whatsoever.
