Were you not around for beta? Yoshida shot down the ideas several times, even made a near novel long post on why FFXIV goes under the systems it does today over other content that was used in FFXI/1.xx. A shame you missed out.Can you post where he totally shot them down? If I knew this I would have left a long time ago, I am not saying I don't believe you, I just want to see it for myself so I can go be sad ; ; Large scale FATE things are NOTHING like sky, sea, or NM. FATE is a spam fest with no thinking involved..it is only for EXP and drops nothing game breaking..it is a sad, pathetic filler and slap in the face to the folks wanting real NM content. It is a waste of time end game...no one really uses it outside of leveling up. I would never consider it end game replacement for NM/etc...that is a joke.



Well they are adding roaming Primals, so that would be similar to HNM's. I think the biggest issue with FATEs isn't the system it self but how the community used it. Back in beta we where running around doing quest and did FATEs as they popped up. Naturally I assumed we would be grinding Guildleve and doing random FATEs as they spawned. Sadly the xp was just better to spam FATE.
Maybe the best goal for HNM FATE is have someway to set a player cap and level/igear cap. Perhaps add a barrier around the area so low level on looks can't enter the fray. I think we can all agree it's needs some work.

Its the nature of the beast when you give content. If someone sees just a slight advantage in gaining levels, it will be used to death by the community until the development team do something about it. Fortunately, that is the case. While FATE EXP is not being touched, they are greatly increasing the amount of EXP you get from guildleves, quests, and dungeons. I think in the recent live letter he even said you will prefer dungeons over FATE. Lets see if that will be true or not.Well they are adding roaming Primals, so that would be similar to HNM's. The biggest problem with HNM FATE simply is the congestion of players. The idea is solid, but on a technical standpoint it is near broken currently. They just need to do some fixes on the technical side and it will work out wonderfully.
Fix the fact a lot of people can't see FATE's or Odin/Behemoth.
Roaming Primal's will be useless because 10000 people will be there...might as
well go on and make it an instance with a set amount of people....



I know they are working on fixing the "can't see FATE" issue, which is to fix the way assets are handle in those certain areas. The roaming primals are going to need some kind of claim system because FCs are going to use that to summon them during a fight.



Oh I was in since Alpha...Alpha 2010 and then the ARR Alpha ^^ All I can remember off the top of my head..is that huge NM thread. The dev response to it was kinda sad. It was like "we have FATE it is the replacement for NM" we were all like...wat? really? I remember it was really pathetic and did not even come close to addressing the issue at hand.
However I DO remember them saying they are considering adding roaming NM's "off the paths" or something odd it said. I remember it was in that LONG feed back list that took them like a week or so to translate..if that sounds familiar to you! People were getting excited and hopeful over that haha.

Well, if they would increase the XP from Battlecraft leves, I think people would use those more.
