I guess I'm alone in this one... I would like timed bidding and such. It would add a bit of competition and competitive prices to the economy and help keep it from going out of control. (I think @.@) I find it fun bidding and trying to get gear out from other peoples noses. Hell I'd like to see it like eBay does it. You can have an instant win price, just charge more to the person putting up the auction. Oh well, I'm the minority in this so it will never come to fruition. I can dream can't I? ^.^

    1. I don't want to warp anywhere to buy an item.

    2. Price history. When putting an item for sale the default price is set based on price history average that the player can alter before accepting the up for sale-process. I want to see price history automatically when selling because otherwise I'd need to track it down via buy menu (a'la XI). It's tedious because I don't probably know the category of the item I'm selling.

    3. Easy search for a specific item also for controller users.

    4. Request an item and set a fee if somebody completes your request. (almost like real quests!)

    5. Bigger screen-space for open menus. When I'm shopping I don't need to see 80% of the screen looking at an AH counter while I try to squint at the item names. This is currently really terrible in XIV!

    Like all of that?!

If you really want to split hairs I'd be fine with you calling that a MW if it rocks your boat.

Then again I strongly suggest SE calls it an AH and it would be a great marketing tool to get some of the players back who left because of the MW disaster.

Idk I just had something like this is DCUO and it was awful. It would have to be done really well and if the auctions are over 30 mins there should be something that lets you know if you're bid one and you need to pick it up like an AH linkpearl.

did people seriously ragequit due to MW? I've been playing since Open beta, I even got duped into buying the CE, and I quit for 3 months at a time due to monotony of guildleves and such, but quitting due to MW, that really wasn't on my list.

I was thinking about ways we could have an AH and a market ward system, and as an idea I was thinking:

-The AH is used for buying and selling goods, general AH stuff.

    - The market wards are used for player 'requests'. This could be anything from repairs to wanting help with a mission and offering a reward, or wanting to create a static or whatever. If someone wanted an item crafted that wasn't on the AH, they could stick their retainer in the specific ward for that item (tailors or whatever) and put up a message requesting it. Someone else could come along and make it, trade it with the retainer for a reward, or leave a message with the retainer.

Do you think that would work as a system? If you were bored you could essentially go on these player-driven quests for people and make money from them. If a tailer wanted to make gil, they could go to the tailor's ward and craft a bunch of items requested in there.

Just an idea, any thoughts on whether it makes sense or whatever are welcome.

well things I feel are needed for the market wards, as said isnt the need for auction house, blind bidding etc. But the ability to have one ward for each area since everyone basically sells stuff in one place anyway, and lack of server crashing and you to be able to put your retainer in any ward no restriction on amount of retainers in a ward.

If all this requires the item search function to become the ward system. Fine by me

The retainers can replace AFK bazaars without having the functionality of *being* the AH. Put more agressive taxes on the AH, remove the taxes on the bazaars. Leave the bazaars as city-dependent, but have a global AH that they can all interact with.

In addition to seeking repairs in a proper fashion, I could see the retainers monitoring the AH for you with a cachet of money and automatically making up to, say, 5 purchases if they become available at the requested price.

I am actually completely fine with the Market Ward system as is. If something was to be changed, it would be to let me make purchases from the search counter for a nominal fee. Other than that, I would kindly request to leave it alone.

It takes literally about five times as long for me to buy an item as it did in FFXI, and that's assuming I buy the correct one.

Let's say I just leveled up my LNC to 17 and need to look at a new armor tier. Where do I begin? Does LNC prefer leather stuff? What kind of hats? LNC can wear multiple kinds, and in order to even compare these I have to jump back and forth between divisions. I can't sort by level, so even within a single page I have to go back and forth between several pages of data to compare two pieces. Oh, but now I see, this one's out of stock, guess I just wasted my time there! I look the other one up, 15 results, most of them in Tinkerer's Ward. I mark them starred, and then head to Tinkerer's Ward. Hopefully I didn't mix up retainer names, otherwise I'd end up buying someone else's hat as opposed to the cheaper one I wanted. 5 minutes later, I've bought a single item.

Now then, I finally have a hat. Now I get to go back to the counter and look up data for what, 9 other slots? /logoff

An auction house wont fix this. The only way to fix this is to continue to clean the search system up.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Yeah hi, you might want to look at the quote I was referencing before you take my post out of context.

Your white-knight sense was tingling but needs some adjustment.
