The retainers can replace AFK bazaars without having the functionality of *being* the AH. Put more agressive taxes on the AH, remove the taxes on the bazaars. Leave the bazaars as city-dependent, but have a global AH that they can all interact with.

In addition to seeking repairs in a proper fashion, I could see the retainers monitoring the AH for you with a cachet of money and automatically making up to, say, 5 purchases if they become available at the requested price.

Building off this idea I had, if the retainers could make purchases for you, then you wouldn't really need an AH and you could just have them troll the markets while you're out saving the world, and whenever someone puts up a matching item in your price range, your retainer snaps it up for you and notifies you via linkpearl that he saw something you were after and picked it up. Of course, being that he's a paid employee, he takes a small cut (tax).

Similarly, the retainers should notify you of any transactions via linkpearl, whether it's items repaired or sold, and if you don't want one or all of those messages, you can tell that retainer not to bother you with it (so that you could have one retainer that sells pointless crap and a separate retainer that sells high value stuff, and only have that retainer notify you when he's sold something).

Fix the search categories, add in filters, pricing history, linked markets between the city-states, speed the damn thing up, and make it delivered via post (hint hint), and add in the proxy-buyer stuff, and yeah, I don't need an AH at all. I'd still enjoy having one that would operate as a *real* auction house in that regard, with timed bids etc, but the primary market functionality would *finally* be satisfied.

I would like to see the devs waste no time on an action house because the wards work just fine.
