    They said they are working on a way to reset your companion's points, but no word on if it will be in 2.1.

    This is correct. Only mention of 2.1 for Chocobos is Tank Choco being buffed I believe.

    Also you're not the first person I've heard who've had this problem, upon my Chocobo leveling I encountered 5+ people who did the same thing as you.
