If we wanted to get super technical, thf and ninja should come from botanist. lol. I wouldn't mind it either, but it would be weird since katanas are the soul of the samurai.

Theif and ninja from botanist? Interesting. What's your reasoning behind that? Some of the FF games have the core mechanic of the Samurai drawing out the weapon's soul for an affect (in tactics, it could break the sword). I'd just like to see that aspect (sans weapon breaking) applied to the naginata/yuri style weapons.

Thieves are a stretch, but typically I would imagine them to be peasants/farmers that were unable to provide enough for themselves and having to resort to taking from others. Ninjas were actually farmer's before they were ninjas, which is why some of their weapons were actually farming tools.

We have MNKs busting out swordslashes and dragoons using final heaven, so at this point anything could go in regards to your weapon soul idea though.

I took his quote as Gandora presenting a hypothetical scenario in which you tell someone their ideas are rubbish, which in American English, would be saying garbage. Also depending on whom you are talking to, you may end up with a "big smack in the face", because someone somewhere will be 'frank' with the back of their hand.

PS I write this not to be mean, but as an example of what you are accusing Gandora of, when in fact, he only stated that many people are internet tough guys, but if you were to speak to them face to face, they would never speak in the fashion they do under complete anonymity. Person A who handle his resignation letter saying "the place is shitty and the people shitty."
Person B who handle his resignation letter saying "This place seems unfriendly to my point of view and I don't like some persons behavior."

Both persons said the same things, you are the boss of the working place, are you going to take the comments of person A & person B with the same reaction?

Kitru is pretty often abrasive and argues in a obstinate and *extremely* mean-spirited way. She uses a lot of rhetoric that comes off as a personal attack. She uses a lot of rhetoric that makes her seem correct to people who don't think independantly, but most of what she is arguing is pretty much pure opinion, or based on some equation that is wildly assumptive.

It is my opinion that she is poisonous to this environment of a pleasant exchange of ideas. This isn't a job, the only thing at stake here is internet epeen. It sucks when someone tries to make a fun thread about cool ideas for something and then another comes in and takes a proverbial dump on everyone's good time with *'ed up, confrontational, mean-spirited, opine-as-fact rhetoric.

The only reason to use that sort of rhetoric is when one is unsure of the facts behind one's own opinion; it is used as a preemptive defense mechanism to prevent people from fighting back. Regardless of whether they are weak or strong of will, it muddles the conversation by triggering emotion on the negative side of the spectrum. Operating in that manner is "kinda sad," and it makes people here to have a fun read feel like this community is full of hardcore only a-holes that only see the bad or negative in everything.

Obviously Kitru and those like her will not change their ways, because my opinion is certainly not enough incentive for them to act like I think they should, especially if they have been incentivized to act how they are acting for however long they have been acting so. Which is unfortunate because I have seen quite a few interesting and intelligent things come from Kitru, but they were almost always surrounded by insults, focusing on the OP's creativity or cognitive ability.

No. The reaction would not be the same. Person B clearly stated why they did not like the place, whereas person A just went off with no reasoning. I'd be more interested in WHY person A said what they said, not how they said it.

COOL now that everyone is friends again. back to the derailed thread. I do not think that DRK would be a good choice for a tank because, like so many before me has said, it would clone the warrior. SAM has a lot of potential to create a different style of tanking but in my heart i still see this class a dps. IT can also work as a tank and I will not throw this idea away, based on their abilities and weapon/armor use.
I personally would like to see something new, something different. Granted they have many jobs/classes in the FF universe as it is but that does not mean they can't create more. I would rather see something new on the table.

This is the operative word that is poisoning the dialogue. We need to stop talking about people and start talking about ideas. Nobody's going to be perfect -- gods, least of all myself -- but it just takes one side chilling the hells out to defuse the situation. This is not just Kitru, either. People are going to be emotionally attached to their ideas, even when they're bad ones. Explain why the idea is ineffective, not what you presupposed to be the reason they got it wrong (e.g. "You've never played WAR!" or "You're just stupid!" or "Your mother never really loved you and you only want a Red Mage to imitate the pimp of a father you never met!").

(Please note that I am not singling out mythicrose here, and I apologize if it came off that way.)

Anyway, I should re-post my old Red Mage / Mystic Knight design from the beta forums. Definitely needs a lot of work -- you learn your mistakes as you go -- but it's just a fun idea, and oddly reinforced by the upcoming changes to WAR.
