Whats wrong with being able to flirt anyways? lol
I actually play TERA...it's really soso unless all you care for is 'twitch' gameplay.Perhaps this is just me, but that combat looked...rather unappealing to myself. The second video reminded me of a bad Monster Hunter clone. The noises and the voices were really annoying...and watching the first video I honestly didn't think that battle system looked faster or skillful. From watching those, it actually makes me appreciate FFXIV's combat better, lol.
This is just my opinion. Sorry it does not coincide with your own.

I disagree.
Anywho i really do not think TERA type battle system will work in XIV and honestly I wouldnt want it. I like XIV's current system if it didnt have the server delays and once stamina is removed and auto attack added it will be more enjoyable I think.

That and they've assured us that you'll still be able to take down an enemy your same rank solo.

Still laughing so hard.....But on a side note. The speed currently is pretty good. Once the need for tactics is added, it should leave a nice Tempo for battle, and hopefully we will all have a chance to slowly combine skills and tactics for some major damage numbers.

Personally speaking.
I am So-So on the battle system I like the maual attack but id perfer more action/combo oriented fighting styles. Sort of like DCUO You had a melee key and a ranged key and used combinations of both to make your character do various skills. Much like day Mortal Kombat/ Soul calibar.
I think the animations are fine, considering there is only so many ways you can weild and swing a weapon. To add flavor though they can use sylings similar to Soul Calibar using various body motions to go with their swings. Like how I'm trying to remember character names so beg pardon if I for using character desciptions. The single sword chinese girl who more small chinese style kimono with bike shorts. And the french fencer wth blond haur who also was a single sword user. They used similar swings but had different body motions that made each style different.
Well unlike ffxi we didn't have too many attack skills just weapon skills I havre a feeling it will be more WoW style where auto attack is just a consent flow of hitting and you mostly use your attack skills.
Personally You can still do tatical battling w/o a need for it, just do not spam the same thing do other stff needed or not :P. When i did play my battle classes I didn't use the same attack I mxed it up. using various skills.
It's not really that it isn't faster that's the problem (though it is pretty clunky due to technical issues)... there's just not much going on to be honest. Attribute mechanics for this game are very simple (and probably last-gen... they should work with stamina more, or do something more dynamic if they take it out), and there is not much subtlety in regards to abilities and actual "buttons you press" (though stagnant fight encounters partly aggrandize this issue).
Yes...I wonder how many people actually play tera in depth as oppose to just riding the hype machine. FF14's hype machine was high too until you actually get into the nitty-gritty.
Boring is a matter of smoke and mirrors. We can't have smarter AIs so anything you fight 200 times will be boring. It's obvious. No one reads a book if they have it memorized.
FF14, doesn't have enough tricks to keep it fun and interesting, that's true, but it's going to take more then cheap gimmicks to evolve it.
People who play DCUO can deeply see it now, with it's content trouble and balance problems. Over used tricks stop being fun. That's what happens when people burn through content because they're shallow.
MMO have the a somewhat unique problem of having exciting battles...because exciting implies you haven't done it 2000 times.
