HAY EVERYONE! STOP HAVING FUN!!!! U'R NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE FUN IN A VIDEO GAEM!!!1!
That's why games are pretty much handout type these days. Everyone wants to progress with like 10 minutes of playing time a week.
The most fun I have is when I help someone get a weapon or armor they want or need. That feeling of watching someone jumping for joy when they get that piece is priceless.![]()

My progress does not mean that it's your progress. To say which one is right and wrong is an opinion.ok I believe there needs to be progression and SOMETHING to achieve when you log in to keep people playing and having fun.
I keep seeing these people saying "YOU DONT NEED TO UPGRADE GEAR TO HAVE FUN"
i disagree i think you DO need to progress to have fun and have a reason to log in which is why i think 2.1 will really hurt this game.
I ask you guys this one question how many times a week do you log in and run Sastasha dungeon? because according to your logic you dont need to gain anything to enjoy the content and keep on running it over and over.
To me, progressing my character is leveling each and every class. To you, you want gear.
In your view, progression won't happen in 2.1
In my view, progression won't change but I'm no where near the point of complaining.
ITT: Opinion of the OP is an opinion. It may suck for some people who are of the same mind of the OP, but to others, we don't see it that way. Also, your one question makes no sense. Why would I want to run only Sastasha. I just FATE grind cause it's quicker. Until the 2.1 fix is in for dungeons, you can grind to 50 easily with the last rank of a GC unlocked and using Seal points to buy green gear.

My character progresses in many ways that have nothing to do with gear at all. It's as if you can't imagine any way to gain 'experience' that isn't gear-related. There are a lot of fun things to do that don't actively help your main class get better...
Let's take a look at me, shall we? I've been here since alpha testing. If you view my character, you'll see I've not achieved jack squat. A level 50.. almost 50 in fishing. But I play a lot less than most, as a full time student, employment and family. But none the less I have fun. I go out in the game and do just whatever I can think of.
I think for a lot of people it comes to time spent. I've not spent so much time in game as others have, or at least, not in one sitting. And I enjoy the game tremendously compared to those that play for 6 plus hours a day.
What we suffer is "the curse of knowledge". For new people, most of the dungeons after level 24 is considered "intense". For us, we just don't understand why newbies do not "get the mechanic" when everything is spelled out for you right in front of your screen... For them Brayflox is HARD ("you want me to Esuna all of you? move out of the way? and cure three people???), Sunken Temple is "ZOMG WTF was that", Cutter's Cry was "intense" and Titan "baby trial" was "fck this, I swear I ran and out of the train track from hell".

ok I believe there needs to be progression and SOMETHING to achieve when you log in to keep people playing and having fun.

I don't run Sastasha but I do run AK/WP a lot even though I'm already capped on first day of reset to help others cap.
I wouldn't help them cap unless it was fun.
Friend was 15 myth from capping last night and someone else suggested we do Titan to cap it and we all agreed. We took PUGs for about 3 of our slots too, we ended up wiping for an hour or so.
I wouldn't have fought Titan to help cap unless it was fun.
I fight Ultima Weapon on a daily basis and watch its cutscenes.
I argue with people like you from time to time instead of actually playing FF14.
I wouldn't do it unless I like arguing, and you apparently must feel the same way. There's only 3 things that a person needs in order to live: food, water, and sleep. Anything else is secondary. Rowdey, you just need to fucking accept that this isn't about FF14, it's about your need to argue with people.

The reason why people generally equate progression with fun is because in most MMORPG, and in particular this one, there's really nothing else that is fun that isn't tied to progression. And while people can certainly decide what's fun for them, the difficulty of putting a group for say Cape Westwind or even just the Chimera suggests that there aren't exactly a lot of people jumping for the chance to do these fun-filled activities as these threads claim.
