I appreciate everyone's response, and I am glad that I am not the only one getting frustrated over this, but this seems to be the only reply that actually answered my question.
Anyways, I take it that this response implies that it is an unintentional technical issue. Has SE even acknowledge that an issue exists and that they are working to fix it?
If this is the case, it makes sense. We wouldn't notice it on our other CDs, as they have relatively short Cast Times/Animations. IIRC, the animation for HG has a delay before it starts, even after the CD is used. For this type of ability, the effect should really be getting applied at the start of the animation and not at the end. Nothing like using HG to prevent dying, only to die before the effect starts and have a timer before you can use it again.
The animation is actually on the long side. We throw our arms upward and AFTER that there is a little flash and we gain a spherical goldish shield THEN we're immune, lol. Meanwhile the CD was burned 2+ seconds before the actual buff is applied and we start to gain the effects resulting in our immediate death and loss of 420 seconds of cooldown time, lol.If this is the case, it makes sense. It's still bogus that the status effect pops on your bar but you still take damage afterward. It felt like there is an issue with damage checking formula that doesn't account for tightly timed buff usage.If this is the case, it makes sense. I also have a feeling that when a monster is "about" to attack you, the damage calculation is already done. Bam. You're going to take 3k damage no matter what even if you manage to pop HG before the monster's attack animation.
