I'd argue that people that equate Lalafell's with children are the creepy ones. To me they're just a videogame avatar.

there are children npcs in this game, and they look nothing like lalafells, there's some official artwork that shows female lalafells with a more feminine shape, but for some reason it never made it in game

Lalafell bust slider is in fact not broken. you should be investigated for pedophilia for making this post...
additionally, in game, lalafell are not real people and it is OK to do bad things to them. They do not have feelings and it is perfectly acceptable to lie to them, steal from them and cheat them out of anything. Unlike Miq'ote, Hyur, Roegadyn and Elezen, they do not have souls.
kicking lalafell from your party when a real player comes along is also acceptable and preferred.
