These people who farm materials with bots are KILLING the economy of the game. Shards use to vary between 40-60 gil each depending on market needs and supply. Now they are down to 15 gil each? One person has sold 3000 shards at 15-18 gil each 16 times in past 3 days. That is 48,000 shards. I've seen people outside Ul'Dah running in circles mining to farm shards non-stop for several days straight. They don't respond to messages either.

Luckily I did not go route of Disciple of the Land to make gil, but those who did say they cannot make any substantial profit. As a Weaver I can pop off a HQ craft in 20 seconds that costs 3k in materials and sell for 22k. Miners I know say it takes them an HOUR to make 5k gil. Meanwhile these farm botters run multiple characters with no gear farming for shards, make hundreds of thousands of gil per day and then sell their gil for $.

Something really needs to be done about this.
