melee dps buffs + bard nerf = cumulative effect too much?

I realize we'll just have to wait and see, but...

With DRG and PGL buffs coming (10%?) AND a BRD nerf, I'm worried that the cumulative effect from both of these will result in BRDs really being outperformed badly
by other classes in their key role, which is DPS in this game.

Bard is suppose to be support from the first time.and its suppose to be outperformed by other dps class when it comes to dps.they just adjust it to the right track.with all the adjustment which we dont really know yet.we should stop crying like a kid.

This is not some other game you are clearly thinking of. There are no pure "support" classes in FFXIV:ARR. There are 3 roles: dps, tank, and healer. Every class has utility of some kind.

Except Bards "utility" abiltiies are far superior to every other dps in the game.

I'll grant DPS/Support, as that still means we're supposed to be able to do respectable DPS. The problem comes when we sacrifice too much of our DPS for the support we provide, which I think is the current concern. I think it's reasonable to be a little concerned about it, but it remains to be seen if we're all just over-reacting. . .

The cumulative effect just has me a little concerned, but so far the devs have done a pretty good job.

The toothpick fairy and the tai chi masters are not afraid of our dps, its our utility that make em scream.
whats more funny is that they think nerfing brd dps will make em shine more and get more spots in raids, or even finaly manage to move out of shit on ground during titan, this game will change so much for those who demanded a brd damage nerf.
It will change nothing, it wont make u shine or be more useful.

all this fuzz and nerfing couse BRD in a good grp is nr 3 or 4 on parser (coil)... bloody hell, stop focusing on brds dps and try find solutions to uppen the use for other classes.

There is no support role in XIV, not room for it in 4 man content, and in 8 man content where songs are needed, we recive our damage reduction

Drg need work to boost utility and bit more dps, monk need GL to stick longer and BRD is fine as it is.

Didn't they already say it was just going to be a restructuring of cross-class skills for Bards? :T

To be honest, all I wanted for my Dragoon was to have a lower CD for Elusive Jump and like a 10% boost to DoT skills.

The incoming patch changes will be fine. Bards are going to still do very well.

I'm happy to see so many other classes getting improvements. Any bonus to my party is a bonus for me as well.
