yes, I used some wording that made people rage extremely quickly, but Blackshroudmercs has very eloquently stated what I was thinking, sans the catchy title. The idea that MMOs are about getting gear and progressing, that it's all about the next dungeon and completing that next set of armor.
This is not what MMOs are for. Its become a disturbing trend, log on, spam for marks and then vanish once cap is reached, to you folks I say, you are doing it wrong.
"Oh but that's what I like". Well that's fine, but don't whine about how bored you are, and don't say how little content there is when you refuse to indulge in anything else the game has to offer.
Gold Saucer, Chocobo racing, a card game, housing, crafting, chatting with friends, barding..all these things are what makes an MMO what it is.
A world, a place where you can immerse yourself, not a race to the top where its all about claiming superiority over others.
Idk when people forgot that, the little things make an MMO what it is, its a world, not a straight line.
Believe it or not, I understand that dungeons, literally, are content. And although I enjoy exploring new dungeons, they get stale very quickly and again, we're left with nothing to do but stand in Mor Dhona considering joining a Garuda or Titan pug just for the heck of it (you know you do this).
I have all the DoL's and all the DoH's i want leveled (missing arm and bsm cuz I was never a fan). But there's no point in them except to sell to up-and-coming DOH levelers. What a stupid system. While I do look forward to housing and what that will bring for crafters, it seems like it will just involve having to do more combat to get what we need for specific items. Treasure Hunting may be the same thing.
What's wrong with creating a well-balanced world in an MMO, that has other enjoyable activities rather than just primal fights and dungeon fights and fate fights and fights and fights?

Nothing, in fact we are getting some in 2.1 and more in the future with golden saucer and whatever else they are planning.yes, I used some wording that made people rage extremely quickly, but Blackshroudmercs has very eloquently stated what I was thinking, sans the catchy title.

But god's forbit,saying dungeon's aren't content it's just the worst wording ever.
I have heard small mention of a card game and golden saucer, maybe a whisper of chocobos, but nothing they are actively working on.
We'll see how long people are willing to stand in Revenant's Toll and wait for that kind of content. Because the same battles over and over will not hold players' attentions for long.
I'm sure it's not the case for most, but myself and others are already at the point we were with other mmo's before we quit, just standing around the main town, waiting for someone to ask for help or waiting for our coil run to start. There NEEDS to be filler.

Technically, dungeons are content... But regardless, I'm with you on this one for the most part. I'd love more content to keep people occupied. I'm waiting with bated breath for the release of the Golden Saucer. I'd love a card game (as long as it isn't Triple Triad) and chocobo racing sounds like a fun competitive alternative to PvP. Ultimately, this is all a waiting game until the next expansion extensively continues the story (hopefully to the cities of Ishgard and Ala Mhigo). Adding in more sandbox elements would be nice too.We will all be bored of these dungeons in 2 weeks.
They've said absolutely nothing about non-combat content, which is really what keeps us occupied most of the time.
I will probably be spending a lot of time in the fc house, but we still don't have ANY content that makes FF games so fun to play for long hours...mini games, chocobo raising/racing, card games, doing something OTHER than wp sr's. I go to Mor Dhona and look for pug /shouts just to do something, not that I need anything from a titan or garuda, but this game is already stale as balls because they've focuse only on dungeons and boss encounters that we've done hundreds of times already.
Give us real content.
(disclaimer: post was written hours ago but the strict posting limits delayed posting it)
lol are you serious OP?
Non combat content is the only content that is more content then? Are you content going on the record with that content comment? (lol)
Because that's the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. More doungeons is more content. That doesn't mean we don't want other kinds of content too, but just because the content being released isn't the content you personally desire, doesn't make that content not content. Content is content regardless of your opinion of the content of the content.
I gave up hope on any sandbox talk with SE. They have absolutely no trust or respect for their players, god forbid they allow players to make the game fun for themselves.
And AGAIN, I know dungeons are content... it was just to get attention and create a dialogue. I'm a troll. Please consider the content of the post, not the title of the thread. Stop wasting your energy informing me that it is, in fact, content.

I'm gonna go back to watching episodes of Tosh.0 and crying myself to sleep then.
Most game players have no idea how to make a game. I have seen absolutely no demonstration that they don't respect their players. If they didn't, ARR wouldn't have been made and they would have simply cut their losses on 1.0. Their greatest flaw is in the customer support, but that's not on the development team.I gave up hope on any sandbox talk with SE. They have absolutely no trust or respect for their players, god forbid they allow players to make the game fun for themselves.
I guarantee you if they implemented and executed every idea and suggestion ever made on these boards and used none of their own ideas and plans, this game would be horrendous.
