Yeah, I know it would only be more ridiculous if people could just go from 70 to 90.

An average item level of 55 is 660 total item level; that's not going to happen without having some amount of gear from AK (or Pharos or HM Copperbell or HM Manor) or Darklight. No one in just AF and a Grand Company weapon is going to make that number without at least item level 60 gear in every other slot.
