You're right. that'd be a down fall, but I've seen a whole bunch of people with relic+1 and allagan rolling need on a lesser version of what they have for "collection purposes" so its already happening.
Nope

Thanks! So I'm good as far as that goes. looks like people are still gonna "hoard" for this purpose sooner or later.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...19#post1367019
Here is a link to where mannequins are furniture they plan to implement in future patches.
I'd still like for people to turn in iLVL60+ gear for philosophy or myth(for iLVL90 gear)
Everyone seems to avoid that point
Nope

I agree: having a ton of "useless" items around really sucks.
My friends all have an entire set of gear that they'll never use just because it's on a class/job that they'll never use. Having a load of these items lying around is a waste. Selling them for 10-15 gil is also pretty much a waste.
If our old gear could be exchanged for seals then why can't these gears?
Granted, it'd be awesome if we could trade them off to our friends who needs them (basically, everyone who does Titan HM knows that picking up the weapon is nigh on useless since you'll be getting your Relic in a few short minutes of grinding out the Philosophy Tomes for it) but I can understand why it's not in place.
Still, it's a little bit of a missed opportunity and I can see OP's view on this.

Exactly. aside from "collection " why not for those who just need 50 more philo or myth for their relic/+1 or just to trade something YOU DONT WANT to some one who needs it for a similar weapon/ gear of equal iLVLI agree:

It's already happening, but the extent is very limited, because, as you have found out, you could ever only collect 3 of each.
But if we now open up the door to trade those in for anything at all, people are going to be needing everything. New players who really need the weapons will be competing with very bad odds; they will spend even more time farming for their weapon than we ever did---because at our time, people can't NEED the stuff once they have one.
The situation where we can have 3 of each RARE label item is just an oversight or a loophole that resulted from the server's lack of---or design of--- inventory management. It was not an intentional result.

I see. But if not remove it then; have a positive approach. Maybe even GIVE away the items if needed.
My main goal is for trading. I brought up selling the Primal items because some of us have doubles
But I'd like for people to be able to trade equal iLVL items.

It's more along the lines of just being unnecessary. Too often, people don't realize how a simple benefit can cause significant problems. I mean... think about the shout/tell functions in this game, and how RMT have been using something good to be more of an annoyance to the players, and beneficial for themselves.
Obviously, your suggestion doesn't have too much to do with RMT, but rather it eliminates the role of RNG. If you can simply trade in goods for equal value, why bother having the goods at all? A simple token drop would be more than enough (and simple on the inventory sorting), as you can just pick and choose what you want. Drops become irrelevant, in essence.

This is for those who have multiple.... think about the shout/tell functions in this game, and how RMT have been using something good to be more of an annoyance to the players, and beneficial for themselves.

You did make a good point.
I guess for those with doubles we gonna have to wait for housing to put em on display.
I still feel a way to sell/ trade in/ trade should be concidered / thought about.
If all this gets thought over and is exploited or is a bad idea ; then by all means dismiss it.
Just wanted to bring it up.
You also gotta understand the frustration of RNG in coil for certain drops or when u buy a myth item only to find out Allagan is better
Of course with knowledge ahead of time this can be avoided but still. just a suggestion.
Nope
