    People don't seem to realize that FFXIV is a Japan made game and thier laws governing copyrighted material are probably different than the US. While you are allowed to use other audio with most anything else (unless the audio's artist/label complains) it might not be the same in Japan. SE is just covering their own legal butts in case someone wanted to sue them. I seriously doubt it has ANYTHING to do with a small glitch that let's you be stuck in an emote.

    Bear in mind this is a company that PATENTED ATB.

    That's beyond ridiculous. Remember when Gariott or whoever have you, not familiar with RPGs before NES, patented the turn based system, cause I sure don't.

    No, they could allow people to do this. Blizzard does it just fine, and they're not just in the US - they're all over the world. This decision is completely in the hands of SE. It has nothing to do with SE fearing a lawsuit at all.

    This is the same company that is so pissy it takes down videos of ARR's awesome in-game music, while leaving FFXI's in-game music alone. Well done guys! If it's one thing SE needs, it's less people playing FFXIV!

    For all other MMOs I used to make kill videos for bosses and PvP videos but with out editing the music they would be crazy boring . SE needs to remove that restrictions asap

    This.

    Yeah, I was sad when I saw that part. Way to scare away people with any creativity. What bothers me about it is that there are great vids for WoW and I would like to see what these individuals would do with FFXIV. Alas...

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    HAHA! Seriously, this is funny. You honestly think that there is any legal weight to the "well he/she did it"?

    Appetites for risk vary by company. Blizzard is well known for being aggressive, both in liberal definitions of fair use and defending their product. Not every company is going to see that allocation of resources as worthwhile.

    To make a big deal out of a video with 50,000 impressions is beyond a joke. I personally like guerilla/viral marketing campaigns, but I know enough about business to realize that sometimes the risk associated with that isn't worth it. You lose a measure of control, and everyone knows SE likes having complete control.

    It's these types of moves that make people upset at current IP laws and think copyright is a joke.

    XI is 11 years old. Hmmm kinda weird though, 2 High Quality OST videos got taken down recently even though it met requirements, but...

    These are still up somehow..so yeah it's not SE being "picky", it's all in who decides to report. These ones should have been taken down as well if what people say is true (it's not Youtube and Purely SE.)

    I actually prefer watching kill videos without lame music edited in. Rarely, very rarely, does it have any music I wouldn't mute immediately.
