Sacred Soil gives 20 seconds of mitigation. The bubble lasts 15 seconds but the buff you get lasts for another 5 seconds after leaving the bubble. The main thing to realize about using sacred soil is that in order to get the most of it, it needs to absorb more damage than a single lustrate can heal for. For example, the tank would need to take over 12,000 base damage in 15 sec in order to negate around 1200 damage, about the average heal of lustrate on a PLD. Typically this is better in AOE situations or high burst situations, and not on only when a single target is taking damage. However P3 and P6 dreadnaught's are the one instance where their sustained damage will easily be over 12,000 damage within those 15 sec, so using Sacred Soil is better in those situations.
This is incorrect.
Sacred Soil gives 15 seconds of mitigation. Its duration begins ticking as soon as it lands, but the buff does not take effect until the next 'universal buff tick'. When the duration expires, the buff will last for an extra 'universal buff tick'. (the universal buff tick is 1-3 seconds depending on who you ask)
The initial delay and the lingering delay at the end cancel out, so the total duration is exactly 15 seconds.
*As was explored in a previous thread about Aetherflow charges, Sacred Soil is MP efficient only if it mitigates, on average, 1200 damage, meaning the targets must sustain 12,000 damage within 15 seconds to beat Lustrate's effectiveness (average 1200 heal for a 6000 HP tank).
