The viability is not the issue here. It's the inherent issue with 4-5 of our skills not having a purpose or not working correctly An extremely small number of mobs utilize knock back, yet we have an entire skill dedicated to this mechanic which basically applies to about 4 different mobs in the game. It can be easily combined with a number of our other skills. Awareness nullifies any critical heals which renders the entire ability practically useless, you might as well not use it at all.
