Plus it's not like NIN was the only evasion tank in XI - a well geared DNC could do it surprisingly well (or even PUP).

I'd much rather see Mystic Knight or "Rune Fencer" make its way into XIV over DRK as a new tank - DRK should be more offense oriented and take advantage of the great DD tools MRD has access to. Besides it's not like every job is locked into the same general role as the base class (see: SMN vs SCH).

That said, it's also one of the reasons I actually much prefer XI's design over XIV's when it comes to jobs, equipment and abilities (minus auto-learning stuff like spells I mean) - while outdated and flawed, XI's system was also infinitely more flexible than the armory system. You will *never* see BLU in this game because of it, it just can't work. BST won't happen either due to the nature of the game's content and how trashy most mobs are anyway (unless it was all based on Call Beast and no charm)

They could do BLU or BST. At the end of the day, *charm* as it was in XI probably wouldn't exist, but the learning of new abilities would likely be tied to class quests instead of actually going out and getting hit by the monsters or taming wild monsters. For instance, BLU quests to go get monsters to cast stuff on you to learn it or BST quests where you have to tame something before you actually get access to the "Call Beast" for that monster.

Uh what? BLU won't work on a fundamental level. First of all, it's always worked by learning abilities of the monsters you fight, and if they changed that then it really wouldn't be BLU anymore. Secondly, the way the armory system is designed, it would not only limit the total spells available to BLU severely, but require some weird design for the base class that eventually becomes BLU.

Honestly looking back the armory system is not as well thought-out or diverse as XI's job system. I would have much rather seen something closer to either FFV's or Tactics' job systems.

It's not unfeasible really, since BLU would be a Job and not a class and Jobs learn all their abilities through quests it wouldn't be hard to incorporate the lore that way (IE: Go defeat this monster and steal it's ability).

I imagine BLU is a job, not a class... and your job quests involve hunting down X random boss monster and learning their spells for your jobskills. Base class could be whatever.
