Given the issues with the current in-game economy, I felt it would be a wise decision to just rush to the end game and start running dungeons, etc. This way I have access to all tiers of the game, and when I have downtime I could work on crafting. Over this last week I had decided to give crafting another shot and thats all I have done. I've posted another thread on this in the new player help section. Turns out my least favorite portion of the game is crafting. In every MMO, or RPG I have ever played I usually find my love for a game within its crafting system. It provides me with a sense of accomplishment and utility (I like being a supportive player) but despite my efforts I absolutely cannot get behind this crafting system. Its easy and simplistic enough, but there is something about it that makes me want to smash my face into a keyboard. That being said, my initial goal was to rush to the level cap, but I wouldn't really consider that an issue.

Whenever I ask myself that question I always end up taking a break for a while. At least until the next big patch to see what changes have come around.

Good song by punkers "The Clash" btw...

Basically to summarize it, gathering is not attractive for you, levelling up requires repetitive FATE/Leve grinding which is not fun for you, and the long wait for the dungeon queue and lacking in upgrades because unable to get the loot you needed in the dungeons. And you want to make your money feel worth with the time you spend on the game.

Difficult to think how to encourage you. If you are not having fun with the game and because real life gets too busy making you not feeling worth the money you paid for the game, my suggestion is better to leave the game. If the contents does not satisfy you, then i have nothing much to say because whatever you highlighted is part and parcel of the MMO world.

    Gearing up:
FATE grinding, purpose is to give good exp and Grand Company seals. If you are doing it solo, then you are going to have lots of trouble getting gold medal.
Use GC seals, claim GC items, very strong boost in upgrade

Dungeon grinding for gears, its all about RNG. But queue time gets really tedious. Suggestion, shout for a tank, and line up for DF, you will realize that you will get a dungeon in almost an instant, try to convince the tank to stay on with you.

    Timing:
Unable to online during peak time to get a group easier for dungeons/FATE. Based on your time, worst case scenario, server transferring. If you know that your server's population is low on the time you online, then best is to find another regional server like EU/JP servers. Latency might kill you, but if you wanna have the feel of being in a group with lots of people around, this is one way.

Since I don't know how far you got in your experiment, or what classes you tried, I just want to put out that I find certain crafting classes to be surprisingly fun especially once you start getting the cross class skills at 15, but others I can never get into it.

For example I don't really like ARM, BSM, or CUL (I completely despise CUL), but I do like LTW and CRP and GSM (though not until level 13). I am on the fence about ALC, and WVR is hit or miss. Some levels are great. some are terrible.

The fun is in trying to complete higher level recipes at all, and trying to get HQ as much as possible. The more skills you get, the more options you have, but it requires a bit of planning and paying attention to figure it all out.

Much like tanking roles, things don't really start to happen until you hit level 15, and even then not until you get 20 + cross class another class (or more) to 15.

Just to give you an alternate opinion: for me at least some crafting classes aren't fun, but some are, and some/most require leveling a ways before things start to get interesting/fun.

Edit: also, I just looked up your character, and it currently only show Miner, which is gathering not crafting.

I know the lodestone isn't always current and you might be doing this on an alt, but just to make sure: Mining is not a crafting class. Gathering and crafting are very different. Most people I know find Mining and Botany to be fairly dull if not downright painful.

So if you have been trying out Mining but not anything else... Go pick up Goldsmith and try it out. Goldsmith requires a lot of materials from mining, so you should be set to fast track GSM already to try it out.

Get new FC or LS to do the dungeons with or can put a shout out around the towns or mor dhona asking for a party or create your own party with people from the same server as you, half the time creating your own party makes it easier to do. In df I usually don't say anything as there are so many douche bags around that will either drop or screw around or leave because its your first time. Don't worry though a lot of people who claim they done it so many times and are pro at it turn out to be terrible at what they do.
