What makes me most sad, is when games became all about number crunching and not about having fun. Sometimes I think you need an advanced degree in mathmatics to play - so you get your "numbers" just right.

It is not "all about number crunching." It is possible to number crunch all you want and to still suck at the game.
At the end of the day, none of the secondary stats will make a huge difference. However, det does increase healing by a visible amount and will never hurt you. Spell speed may allow you a faction of a second to move or get a heal off but in reality, if a tank drops before a gcd is up or you can't get a heal off before you need to move, its an issue of bad timing. And no amount of gear will help that.
