Was hoping they would be further along in development as they was stated to the introduced in the "first version update of 2011", but I guess they are on a standby all of this summer? That would be very sad!

It's surely still the most exciting feature the new/old have ever spoken of, so let's keep the thread alive and in good spirit.
Here's hoping Info on this pops up after the next big patch in June. I'd be ecstatic to see it listed in the next list of goals afterward.

Yes, then perhaps we could be strung along for another seven months waiting for a feature which might not even be fun anyway.

Does the premise of a game like FFXIV even support something like a Player-Run company? FFXIV is turning into a traditional Themepark game faster than you can say "Go play World of Warcraft". And with that said, how do companies even remain relevant in a game without sandbox elements?

What I mean is, community features like Companies have little to no function in a world where players have no power (be it in the form of territorial control, politics, or economics). There is no market-PvP anymore let alone combat-PvP.

Now that I actually think about it, I just wonder how a Player Run Company can even be relevant in a PvE environment, especially the sort that SE is so adamant about creating.
