There is three crash sites for dalamuds meteor, all are linked which lead to the binding coils of bahamut and its very likely those other two will also be entrances in the future. (my assumption is turn 6-10 at one and turn 11-15 at another).
The other two are in Burning Wall (Thanalan) and Boulder Downs (Coerthas) though which would imply this is something else.

OP I've seen this thing before but not really thought about it. The dome appears to be made of crystal though which suggests it's part of the aether explosion that devastated Mor Dhona (and created the Crystal Tower) after Dalamud's fall. I'd guess they plan to explain it at some point.
