A case of rose colored glasses, or people that did not experience WoW vanilla and are talking from a perspective of starting the game when there was decent content to be played.

That's sad when you compare a mmo a decade old to a new one just released.
I find it comical they dare to compare this game, rebuilt in 2013.
Too an MMO launched over a decade ago.

This is a sad attempt to try and justify this game poor launch.
600k subs like a word with you ( which is 600k+ now 3 months in). 1.0 had 500k and dropped rapidly to 20-40k not even a month in.
I think we have different ways of expressing "poorly"
Launch is a launch regardless on how old a MMO is. If we are comparing what happened to both MMO's at launch, it's totally okay to do so.
If you we're trying to compare FFXIV ARR to 11 years worth of content (FFXI or WoW)... then I be scratching my head.

Yeah, let's compare a game released in 2013 to one released in 2004. That makes perfect sense.
No, it is not. In 2004, do you think they had the tools for content creation or experience they have today? No. Do you think they had the budget in 2004 that they have today? Most certainly not. Do you think the companies had the same robust infrastructure both internally and externally with servers to be able to sustain these games? No. The fact is that in 2004 Blizzard was jumping into untested waters. They didn't have the benefit of nine years of new technology and the accumulated knowledge of the huge industry that MMO's have become. It's a completely unfair comparison.
That being said, I also admires those people with "Customers are always right and Customers are Gods" mindset. They usually have blind beleif that:
"GM should show up right away they submitted a ticket for bot." In which totally ignore the fact that total S/E employes are no more than 4,000 and FF14 player base is 600K.
"The game should be player firendly, yeah, that means head everything to us on a silverplate." Spoiled by World of Warcraft for too long maybe?
This game was at 1.5mil just a few weeks ago... 600k and diving.600k subs like a word with you ( which is 600k+ now 3 months in). 1.0 had 500k and dropped rapidly to 20-40k not even a month in.
