Saw my first one today...all white equipment and sub 50 weapon, can't wait for gearcheck...

took me a while to figure out what soulbinders were.

doing wonder's palace is probably the worst way to do it. go to an imperial camp and kill em nonstop.

But.... it's highly unlikely the gear check would be higher than 50 in WP. It only drops iLv55 gear. AF gear is only ilv50 and 55 for the body, and that doesn't include accessory slots or the waist. So, the gear check would be at highest 50, and it would probably be more like 45-47. I'm also not sure if they will be adding the gear check to enter to all dungeons/trials, or just some.

While I won't argue that just farming monsters if faster, you can get two things done at once if you're spiritbonding in a dungeon that drops tomes, albeit slower. So long as they know the dungeon, it shouldn't be much of a problem. And if they don't know the dungeon, they're probably not wearing all white gear to spiritbond it.... And if they're really trying to spiritbond it, then it'd be HQ with a few crappy materia on it, which would further make the run easier.

By the way, it's "spiritbond" not "soulbind".

Don't see why people aren't using iLevel 55 stuff for spiritbonding. Gotta have that chance for tier 4 Materia. Plus SBing in a dungeon, like the above poster mentioned, will also get you tomes so the "go to an imperial camp and kill em nonstop" is isn't as good of an idea (believe me I've tried both methods)

aetheryte rings everywhere. (also ilvl55 rings can get pretty expensive if you consistently fail to get IV materia)

on a different note, i use the DD area in the northern thanalan to spiritbond. lets me level my chocobo too (soon WHM Choco...)

You can switch gear in dungeons, so unless a gear check function prevents you from swapping to a lower iLevel in a dungeon it won't do anything for this situation.

I run Aetheryte/Meteor ring all my dungeon runs. DL everything else. It hardly put a burden on anyone. However, I have been to WP where the Scholar was wearing FULL white crafting gear. That is ridiculous. Btw, you CAN get tier 4 materia from an Aetheryte ring. I got DEX IV my last conversion.

It's not exactly carrying. Like most instances under Coil, they require more skill then gear. Hell even AK, the "gear/DPS" check dungeon can be done in swimsuits
