I do, in fact, hate them implementing something they knew would turn into a zerg-fest with an "invisible" story NPC. Even more so since they knew the rendering priority fix is not coming before the 9th of December.
I'm glad you had fun, though.

So I heard Lightning shows up after the FATE sometimes.
Couldn't tell you for sure though with all the aoe spamming, player shouting, 200 people shown at once standing on Lightning and ability spamming going on.
Maybe next event you'll get right SE.
Or we could always get that slider you were talking about that reduces the number of characters shown on-screen. Would love to put that sucker at freakin' ZERO.
I think SE should use this and pervious events as a lesson not to use fates for any kind of event. It doesn't work in any game IMO.
They thought they were being smart by making it 2 fates in 2 different zones to reduce the server load.
Glad the servers didn't crash.
Terrible experience none the less.
the event goes on for another 3 weeks, folks. I highly doubt there will still be so many people spamming the first fates by then, so chances are it will be much easier to actually see her.
I personally am having quite a lot of fun, and I hate doing fates in general. and the sword looks cool as hell. now if only my little female lala could just wear snow's outfit *sigh*
Do yourself a favor and set your expectations for seasonal and promotional events to rock bottom. If you were expecting engaging content from a transparent cross-promotion, I can only assume you also enjoy video games about the Burger King..King and the Toyota Yaris.
there are so many haters on these forums, its disgusting.
Personally, I don't have an issue with whether a seasonal event is engaging or not. It's supposed to be easily accessible and offer a few minutes of distraction for the people who enjoy such events. I just can't really understand why they chose to attach it to a mechanic that works worse (FATE) than rather attaching it to something which can cause less stress on a game engine they themselves designed and knew how it worked, as well as knowing they won't be able to fix it before the next big patch.
The Christmas bell event in 1.0 worked better than FATE ones do in ARR.... and that is just absurd :|
People "cry" because of what I wrote above your quote. As someone in another thread said; They could have not anticipated Odin and Behemoth fates to cause such server-side and client-side stress, but since they were aware of it prior to releasing the Lightning event, why not just make those something which would work better like normal quests, leves, instanced content for parties or whatever other mechanic that's not tied to the drawing priority problem which they admitted exists when there's a big amount of people in the same spot. The fix for this comes after the Lightning event ends and, admittedly, before it is up again in February.

Wait, there was Lightning in this fate? All I saw was a bunch of crabs that got instant-aoed by 100 different people before I could even lock on them. In fact, I thought it was just a regular fate cause of the crabs. When someone told me that it was the Lightning fate, I thought they were kidding me. I didn't have high expectations about this event but they didn't even try. I know it's just the first part but I highly doubt that it will get any better. And not to forget the rewards! Vanity items for vanity slots that might be implemented in half a year. Besides, who wants to look like Lightning anyway?
You're right, i mean there are people who like prune juice and say it's the best, and also some people who consider eating bugs a delicacy, who are we to question their tastes?
