Yep American launch is as you say. However, we are talking about launch to launch. FFXI Launch came with 6 Jobs. FFXIV ARR came out with 9 Jobs. If we are talking about jobs FFXIV has XI beat. I agree the jobs need more abilities but this is what we are stuck with for now till future updates ( Level cap) etc.
Zilart added NIN DRG SAM NIN And (SMN which you didn't need zilert to unlock.) At release in japan. at level 30 you could unlock Paladin, Dark Knight, Beastmaster, Ranger, Bard
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

Rise of zilart was when NA release, so is not the same like how it was FFXI in 1 year ago before it was release to NA.
Even so the amount of JOBS is less compare to FFXIV.
No, FFXI had 11 jobs at JP release that were all fully different classes (Warrior, Monk, Thief, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Paladin, Bard, Darknight, Ranger, Beastmaster)
FFXIV has 9 jobs that are fully different classes (not so much for Summoner and Scholar but ok).
The other “classes” are not played post level 40 by 95% of the player base, so I do not see why we should count them.
May we add that this is a re-release and not a fully new game? I think expecting a bit more than what we got was not foolish.

If you go that way, i will say this, FFXIV have more, 8 Classes & 9 Jobs. No, FFXI had 11 jobs at JP release that were all fully different classes (Warrior, Monk, Thief, White Mage, Red Mage, Black Mage, Paladin, Bard, Darknight, Ranger, Beastmaster)

Decade old game, we expect better quality from games in over a decade. Should I have expected Pokemon X/Y to be nearly identical to Pokemon Red/Blue in every way, only 150 pokemon, no abilities, no held items, no new end game? No, because it's a game from almost 20 years ago.
Don't bother ever responding to me again.

MMO =/= Single player game.Decade old game, we expect better quality from games in over a decade. If FFXIV was meant to be a direct sequel/upgrade of FFXI then you could expect it to have everything FFXI has and then some. That is not what FFXIV is though, it is an entirely new and different game with similar themes. If they released a new Pokemon game set in a completely different world with no Pokemon directly taken from the previous games the first one in that series wouldn't have 6 regions and 700+ pokemon.Decade old game, we expect better quality from games in over a decade. Should I have expected Pokemon X/Y to be nearly identical to Pokemon Red/Blue in every way, only 150 pokemon, no abilities, no held items, no new end game? No, because it's a game from almost 20 years ago.
If I go which way? The way of the facts?
As I wrote, the 11 jobs of FFXI had different gameplays, there were true distinct classes.
The difference between jobs and classes in FFXIV is slim, to say the least, and do not offer a different gameplay.
More than that, the game is not designed so you use either your job or class. As I said above, about 95% plays only their job,
so the 8 classes cannot be compared to a FFXI job.
I wish the game was designed so you had more differences between your class and your job.

This is incorrect..... relase date of FFXI Japan, PS2, May 16, 2002, There was no expansion and there where only 6 jobs, SMN was added in an update near the release of Rise of Zilart, but only Carbuncle was useable, then when the expansion hit (and US release) SMN was fully usable, along with the other jobs from the expansion. Also new game? no, completely rewritten game? yes, just because it is a reboot/relaunch, does not mean they did not work their butt off to recode the game into it's current state.

Skill customization aside, I definitely wish there was an element of item customization along the lines of Borderlands where the same Legendaries would scale stat-wise dependent on your level (and which playthrough you were in). In ARR, that could be something to the effect of being able to run old dungeons at level 50 with the same items dropping, but with their stats being scaled to level 50 (same goes for mobs). Another option would be to allow you to spend Phil tomes to "upgrade" a given item to Darklight-like stats so that you could have a little more variety in your gear without being penalized in the min/max game. (That's an actually an area where ARR's emphasis on stats only for itemization would help.)
If you had to choose between a million dollars and saving your best friend...what would be the first thing you'd buy?
