BCNM's were pretty bad.
They are one boss dungeons that you have to grind a lot to get in.
that you have to grind a lot to get in.

You seem to have missed the OP... the STYLE was requested, not mechanics... everything you just bashed was mechanic related... not to mention technology has greatly advanced since then.. right now, do you wait for another group to finish fighting Ifrit/Garuda/Titan before you can enter? No, so why would we have to wait for "a BLM soloing Limbus" to finish before you could enter if this was added to XIV?
Reposting so this sinks in. Keywords again "Draw Inspiration"
ALL of those ideas can be tuned to make them less tedious, and you probably haven't played for awhile because they did tune them down and made them more accessible. Dynamis you can now enter once per day and doesn't cost you money. There is great Inspiration to draw from events like Nyzul Isle, Besieged, Dynamis, Sky, Sea, etc. All those events are unique and can be tuned down as to be less time consuming but STILL retain their uniqueness.
Also "Drop Rates" isn't a true argument, because as of right now, there are people that have ran coil for close to two months and have gotten barely anything. (I have seen 1 tank ring in two months and if I didn't win the roll it would have went to the other tank) Basically in short, "Drop Rates" can be tuned.
I would like to thank all the positive people that were in favor of this question to Yoshida San, hopefully he answers us.
Liked and woulda liked again if I could! Would love to see some FFXI style content in here ^^ Since SE went the generic route and copied all the other MMO into this one...I don't see why they shouldn't copy things from FFXI! I would love content like Salvage, Sky, Sea..etc. I know the JP want it too, force pop NM's especially...hehe so let us hope they give us something...^^
Considering you got the seals while grinding a lot to level, it wasn't so bad.
while you were grinding a lot to level.
you were grinding a lot to level.
grind a lot.
I would definitely love for BCNMs to make a come-back. I'd imagine it'd be pretty simple too, given the DF system. I mean, all those primal battles are essentially BCNMs. That being said, I don't think it'd be much of a problem if there were limitations to it (like in FFXI), such as needing X amount of an item in order to get one attempt at it. Or more importantly, that there were various level ranges of BCNM content available. That way, you can kinda enjoy the game in a not-so-rushed light. "Your WHM is only lv30? NO PROBLEM! Let's do a lv30 BCNM."
While endgame/max level content is important, I think it needs to be said that there's more to the game than just what's at the end of the line. For MANY of us, I'm fairly certain that we'd enjoy content regardless of level, as long as it was fun. That's one of the things I really enjoyed about FFXI, that no other MMORPG had/has available. The level capped content. XIV has this, so the idea shouldn't be foreign, but it's different due to those just being generic dungeons. Difficult (raid-tier difficulty) content should be made available to anyone who chooses to take part in it, regardless of level. Even if it were to only be one or two things for that level range.
You know he has already responded to players wanting FFXI-like gameplay and features on several occasions.
Anyone who was on the beta forums know he did a novel long post about the design choices of FFXIV and why features from FFXI would not work in it.
And lets not forget the fact that part of the trick behind the rose tinted glasses of FFXI activities was because of low drop rates. The players were grinding a lot because "Achieving" the content, was "getting the gear". It wasn't really the mechanics that hooked them, it was the low drop rates. because after the drops were achieved, you know what we did back in FFXI? We complained to SE some more about wanting more content.

I will quote myself.
To clarify: Yoshi P WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER bring anything from XI back (except NMs to zergfest NM bosses and Shantotto FATEs)I'm sorry, but none of these things won't ever happen. They simply won't..
Yoshi P hates XI. For three years many XI players have been clamoring for things from XI to return but they never did.
Yoshi P does not care at all about the XI player base.
He does not care about XI players and he never will. He's a WoW player, not a XI player.
If I could find the article I would.. but I believe he said he never even played XI.
I see so you like an open world that is nothing more than eye candy? If they did bring some endgame/mechanics from XI it dosent mean you have to do it, it would be an option. Some endgame isnt meant for everyone, there isnt any reason not to do this as an option just because you dont like XI or hated how something worked. Its one thing to cater to one player type but it is another to appeal to a broad audience and that is what Yoshi's goal is, so therefore again there is no reason not to do this. It's smart that Yoshi doesn't comment on this specifically. As many ex ffxi players that this will entice, it'll turn off just as many players who hated FFXI. Doing so would cause unneeded drama. Even if he does fashion end game content similar to FFXI, I personally don't think he'd promote it as such.
