It's not the easiest thing to convince ISP tier 1 tech support that your routing for a single application needs changed. You end up having to "prove" that you know what you're talking about, but before you do, you'll get passed off for a few hours/days trying to get someone from the NOC to look at your problem. When's the last time you contacted SE about anything lol? Their customer support is horrendous.

I know it can be a pain, but you can eventually get things done. And I've only had to contact them so far to ask if using a Fantasia vial would reset my birthday, and they told me if I had used it an wasted it by mistake to reply and they would restore it. I haven't had any technical issues that I've needed to contact them about yet.

I think people are irritated with being told (by people other than SE) to go jump through hoops to make a game that they pay for work well when they do not experience the same set of issues (or any) in other games. I don't have much of a problem with lag in this game, but I can tell you that if I did, I would be willing to submit a ticket to SE, but I'm not going to sit here and play liaison between SE and my ISP for hours/days/weeks to try and resolve it. It's not worth the effort. SE needs to break radio silence on this issue one way or the other. Even if all they do is make another RFI thread for people to dump traceroutes and pathpings in, they need to address the community.

Fair enough, once again I just want to say I'm not trying to place blame on anyone. Was just pointing out 2 things, that AoEs are infact avoidable, it's just as damaging to the games reputation and potential if nobody even gives it a chance because they see things like those old beta 3 gifs floating around; and to point out that there MAY be a solution for people without waiting for SE.

Anyway, I think I'm washing my hands of this thread, hopefully anyone experiencing this issue gets it resolved soon, whether through their own actions, or SEs. Best of luck!

It's not the red lines disappearing that determines whether or not you get hit.
If you are inside the red lines at the end of the spell cast you are going to get hit !!!!!

If you're not inside, but cast a spell or skill while inside the red lines (even if you started it before the red lines appeared), screw you, you're going to die unless you can, somehow, recast a instant spell when outside.
