I don't think the new MMO is going to be a Final Fantasy MMO. Would be way too soon for another one. I remember reading somewhere SE has been planning to make a MMO where you'll be able to do things similar to the action from Advent Children. This new MMO will probably be it but it'll probably be a whole new franchise with Advent Children-ish action combat

I doubt the New MMO gonna have a large budget like FFXIV, its going to be a game made by subsidaries of SE, just like Fantasy Earth Zero, or similar ones like that.

Producer you need to have the initiative to tell the uppers that it's just not ready. All in all Tanaka has lead some great projects, FF14, unfortunately is not one of them.

I don't see a dev rushing a game out the door unless they are forced too, especially not someone with the experience Tanaka has.

The game failed under him, but I seriously question if it was his fault.

If he was forced to release it incomplete by a power above him, it is not his fault at all that the game failed. Everything just seemed rushed which leads to me to think that. The whole beta was a blink of an eye with game with so many issues. If square has this much money to keep the game going for another year with no income from it... releasing it early would just be pure greed to raise share values before the end of a quarter.

Anyways the true answer will probably never be known, but Tanaka's track record is solid enough he is in no way a bad producer or designer, maby a little outdated but still pretty damn good and very original which is always needed in the mmo clone era.

Then again do not take anything I say as attacking Yoshi-P alot of what he is doing has alot of promises, although it is sounding more mainstream then Tanaka's vision, have to see how it all goes.

It's the producers job to schedule the game. All aspects of it.

It is the producer's job to set the schedule for a game. They decide the budget and the schedule, effectively deciding what makes it into the game upon release.

Tanaka had how long to make the game good? 5 years at least. And it was crap.

I've argued this with you before and you fail to understand anything anyone else says. You rely on the complete and total assumption that Tanaka was forced to step down and was forced to release the game before it was done (despite the fact that there is little or no evidence to say that...hence a total assumption).

I think when it come to games producer's job is less then a producer's of a movie. Tanaka just took care of the time and set time where things should be done by and some needed more time. But at the end it's the stockholders and CEO who say here your deadline make it work and it was not enough.

The producer sets the schedule for the team, but the deadline is out of his or her control, even if upper management decides to change it.

this is what caught my attention lol. This can be applied to pretty much anyone, it still doesn't cover the fact he messed up big time 2 or more times... lol. Look at the Rapture dude he predicted the end of the world 2x's made a mistake 2x's and he still has follower's that will believe every word he says now with his Oct. 21 rapture date. There is more that is limiting this game's development than simply who is "in charge." Personally, I'll support any one that didn't decide to release this game so prematurely. :P
