What are vanity slots??

Gear you can wear overtop of your "stat based" gear. ( Basically, so you can look however you want, even low end gear if you so desired and it won't impact your performance). Once Vanity slots are in the game, it will give more reason to do the other content for the sake of looking cool .

Maybe the rewards are only for the first chapter as it seems a bit odd that the items are all lvl 13 which is what level the first chapter is at....

as they wouldn't want to give everything away about the rewards if they really thought about it

It might be that all the items are level 13 because they're from a FF13 promotion.
I really think they were done with vanity slots in mind. Too bad that last we heard from SE we're nowhere near actually getting the slots to use all the vanity gear that's eating up storage space.

I guess we gotta wait until 2060 when they release FFL (Final Fantasy 50) before we get any gear for our current level cap.

Hmmm with incoming vanity slots in the future ( I think they said it prob won't be 2.1) I'm fine with having some cool costumes to through on later.

omg I'm so excited! I hope we can run this multiple times and get all the gears! I plan on getting all the male and female gear as well as all the weapons for each of my classes.

Hmm, I wonder if I can get any of this for my lower level alternative character, or if most of this actually will require the level 45 content to be cleared.
