As I have not leveled ANY gathering yet ugh...I'm so behind I'm bad. Wouldn't it take me forever to craft a full HQ set, rather than just farm 53+ Castrum like you? By the time I even get my crafting up, and get all the mats for HQilvl70, wont I be already getting some of my AF2 or +1 relic because of the gradual myth tome gain while supposedly farming DL?
Dude why do u even play? First of you said you do 300 dps with DL gear on Titan as a Monk which was lol already and now ur telling this shit? Are you fkin serious? There is a huge difference between DL and 70HQ at least for Monks if you add all pieces. I dont think you had even nearly as much as crit as i had (525) and other stats like det. Not worth it, facepalm.
Like everyone has a freaking mountain of gil.Dude why do u even play? First of you said you do 300 dps with DL gear on Titan as a Monk which was lol already and now ur telling this shit? Of course it makes a difference but this is about if it is worth it.
By the way, learn to Monk.
He never said crafted gear aren't better than DL, he said they weren't worth the money. And I kinda agree; properly melded 2 star are hands down better than DL but if you don't got the gil than you might want to consider DL. DL is enough to get you through most or all of Coil, and you can gear up there. There are possible exceptions but you have to look at each piece individually and explanations would be too long for me to want to get into.
Accessories; however, have the potential to be BiS in the game; this is because the base stats difference is much lower in accessories than they are in the main body pieces. No, I don't care what you say about 1 main stat = 5-6 off-stat, they have the potential to be BiS. Most of you haven't even done the math/test yourselves or understand them anyways.
As monk, I've beaten many many monks with about 15-20 more str and a hundred more crit, speed, and dete than me so the extra stats is by no means game-breaking, especially when compared to the weapon and proper play knowledge. Might be a different story if I was something like Bard though, where gear difference is pretty much the only determinant.Dude why do u even play? It doesn't take any gil to get HQ 2 star equipment done. If more players actually had the patience, they would understand all it takes is grinding dungeons for the tomes to purchase the mats. Most crafters will tell you not to worry about the smaller mats so that hassle is covered. All you need to worry about is a proper tip for their time. Believe me, I only had 300k at the most while gearing out (even when I was socketing materia). It didn't stop me from finishing the gear because I knew for a fact that all my stat values would go through the roof compared to DL. I also knew that certain pieces of DL had totally useless stats that were wasted. Maybe you should learn how to dungeon and stop buying mats on the market.
Kijimea, I can somewhat understand why you would be frustrated. But, the forums should be used to help people... not question their subscription to the game.... As we do appear to share the same opinion on crafted sets being better than DL.Dude why do u even play? I just would appreciate a little bit of respect on a forum post that I took the time to put up and help people, not start a pissing contest over monks.
I appreciate it, and would like to hear some of your insight on monks rotations as I have started to play one in raids.
Songi,
Some of us simply do NOT have the time to put that much effort into the game. I main Black Mage. I have head to toe Darklight, Relic +1 Weapon, and my other ring is Myth.
Considering I get to play two days a week I'm amazed that I have that much. I do not have the time to spend weeks leveling a gatherer, then a crafter, then get lucky and HQ them, THEN spirit bond a ton of useless gear so that I *might* get the materia I want.
I agree, the fully melded HQ gear is /slightly/ better than DL... but DL is FAR less time/boredom/frustration intensive. There is no reason to be so defensive because someone doesn't share your interests. Oh, and I have no idea how you think 300k would be enough to buy it all either. I mean the rings/chocker alone is 1mil a pop, with no materia.
And those are horribly overpriced and no one with a brain ever buys those. I've leveled up a few crafting classes to 50, wanna know how much it costs me to make those pieces? Almost nothing in terms of gil. Literally. What it cost me is TIME. Time to have leveled up the crafting classes and time to get Philosophy stones from speed runs to make the pieces. But as far as in game gil costs? Usually the items aside from the Philo items needed are cheap throwaway items, maybe a couple thousand gil at most. And even if you don't have any crafting classes leveled, there's an abundance of crafters in towns that are willing to make it for you for a small tipping price which you can haggle if you need to save money. So it's totally possible to have 300k in the bank and start melding your crafted items.
