SE has never been quick to address player issues, but this? This is becoming insanity!

That's crazy...
RMT will continue because we got idiots like this one - http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...suspended_t_t/
SE shouldn't be easy on gil buyers, should be instant perma ban.
And here I was under the impression that the general populace would "Just say NO".That's crazy...

That's prime facepalm material right there. One person buying gil from RMTs just perpetuate these annoyances we're all having at the moment. Just -seeing- them is groan-worthy.
So they're impersonating people now? That's peculiar, cause it makes it seem as though they're putting in effort to name their RMT/Bot accounts. How annoying.
I spent 30 minutes yesterday just trying to MPK a bot outside of Gridania just out of spite. The placement is too smart though, thwarts any notion of danger. That bot's probably -still- there outside of Blue Badger Gate, shooting level 1 monsters with her bow. And she even has a lore-like name for her character.
Boy. SE has their hands full with this one.
Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
I'd say suspension for doing it once, ban for doing it again. As hard as it may be to believe, there are people out there who don't actually know it's wrong. Or maybe they do and give in anyways, and make the mistake of buying.
In FFXI they was doing the same thing to some people was pretty funny.
Yeah I understand there are those that don't know it's wrong.
Alright, suspension for the first time but same time remove the entire gil from that player and that players retainers as that RMT money is going to screw the economy even if it's little. Also if they can track what was purchased right after with that gil, that item should be returned to that seller and money removed from that seller (which will suck for that seller, but he/she will have the item returned and can sell again).
I expect at least that much done if it's going to be through first time suspension.
By impersonating people they tarnish said people's reputation by the similarity of a name. People of course take this serious(why wouldn't they?). And I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to contact the RMT person about it w/ the name, they'd tell you they gladly dump it... if you pay for their service. I suppose we could call it a form of blackmailing. Perhaps might not be their intent but believe it or not, I've seen this sort of behavior happen in F2P games. Just not in relation to RMT.
And since there are people who do buy from RMT, I'm sure some would also pay to make this sort of problem go away.
This name applied the day people starting shouting for relic+1 to go to a level 50 story dungeon.
It's peoples' own fault for not reading the TOS. If you're caught buying gil you should be permabanned, end of story.
It doesn't matter really, when I report them, I copy and paste their message and their name from the log into the report. If they spam 15 times in a minute, I copy all 15 shouts into the report with the name on every single one. They could be one letter off from my own name, I'm still gonna report them.

That's interesting, it's a side I didn't see until now.By impersonating people they tarnish said people's reputation by the similarity of a name. What I figured was happening is that SE is doing something behind the scenes that's actually hurting the RMTs so in retaliation they adopted this new behavior to
a) make investigations more annoying for the people following up on reports as now they have to check if the report was for the actual bot or the player it tries to impersonate.
b) hurt the game. It's pretty much inevitable that some people will misspell the bot's name and write the legitimate player's name when filing a report. If any false positives slip through and innocent players have actions taken against their account the people affected will be angry at SE (and rightly so). Fixing those mistakes, once again, takes time and resources.
It's a pretty clever defense mechanism but it can be somewhat countered by giving us an easier way to report RMT bots, that being right-click-reporting.
