    You did not play FFXI.

    And No idea why Yoshi isn't taking ideas from FFXI, the ONLY reason why people hated FFXI was the combat wasn't ultra hyper speed. The combat is different in XIV now it's more fast paced, so why not take advantage of XI's content? Do you realize just HOW much unique MMO' features XI had?

    Agreed completely.

    If it weren't for 1.23 so people already had the original AF, I would say they should have just made normal AF (obtained through endgame difficulty quest lines) and Relic the be all, end all nest to Coil gear instead of having to make a reskin for AF+1. But I understand that thanks to 1.23 existing this wasn't an option, because then a ton of us Legacy players would already have arguably BiS gear.

    Agree with OP and most posts in this thread.

    I got Relic+1 for my BRD 3 weeks ago, and I havent bothered doing WP/AK for myths since. Sure, I only got hero's ring, but the thought of grinding thoose dungeons even more, just for slightly increased stats in recolored AF... oh gawd no... I got fed up with WoW's constant new gear/token farming with every new expansion. Sadly, FFXIV endgame gear grind, feels just like WoW 2.0, imo.

    Reach level 50, farm tokens for DL, join a Coil group and get ilvl 90 gear while farming more tokens for other ilvl 90 gear.
    So I'm just curious, what happens when the first big expansion hits with new raids/dungeons.
    Time to farm ilvl 100-120 gear for even more slightly increased stats, and leave the previous gear in the armory to collect dust?

    My warrior only wear a couple of WP and AK pieces, and I'm already missing my full AF. It just looked so amazing.

    The HP? Pretty much useless.
    AGI? It's a stat the job doesn't even use. Useless.
    Evasion skill? You will never have enough evasion to not have a floored evasion rate, so it's exceptionally useless.
    Enhances jump? 10% damage increase for an ability with a 1.5 minute cooldown, and it ONLY works on the one type of jump.

    A good 95% of the gear in the game worked this way, and as a result wasn't worth using. If you happened to autoattack in the few seconds you had them on (which is very VERY likely), they actually lowered your overall damage in the long run.

    If some people didn't like the game now, it's because of Beta, some things in the game were hard! However, a lot of people complained it was too hard! Well, all I can say is "You got what you asked for". The game will get buffed and debuffed till the balance is right.

    You know how they did that? By making stat gaps between tiers huge.

    You know what they announced just this week at Blizzcon? Stat gaps between tiers are too huge, and they are doing a stat crunch to take stats back down to the same levels of late Burning Crusade.

    They may have gotten around the problem of having unique stats, but the way they got around it was also a mistake. I don't have any problems with SE trying to find a viable solution for both problems in a single move.

    This has me pulling my hair out. Why in creation would Yoshi and Co. not capitalize on mechanics that worked in a game developed by their very own company?

    I covered that. I said the gear wasn't usually worth fulltiming, but that's because of things like Dark Knight relic gear having INT and MAB on it. Empyrean was the first af set where they actually tried to get things right and a lot of that gear had good TP-set life in it.

    A lot of it would have been fulltimed if you couldn't swap in combat. Yeah, the jump gear, a drg shouldn't use that full time. It's not worth the bonus to jump for the loss to acc/att/etc, but the empyrean pieces.. were simultaneously best (for a time) tp pieces and served an ability or a trait.

    But don't you agree that the people who hate on FFXI, solely hate on it because combat is not action packed super speed?

    Everything else about XI is amazing though. (Personally I didn't mind the slow paced combat, but that's me. It felt more strategic, but that's besides the point.) All the other content like besieged, sky, sea, limbus, dynamis, etc. The way it was all setup as an MMO was amazing.
