Is it possible they shut the servers down quickly to get a jump on the hack? If they announced it even giving them a little time is it possible the couldn't be caught? Just a thought.

The early shutdown was because the market board hack was spreading very quickly - I'm sure they figured the several thousand players they inconvenienced with the early maintenance would feel much more inconvenienced if all their gil disappeared.

Read the post about people getting Forced to buy items for 1mil + when not even at MB. They were going to do emergency mait but I guess it got so bad they just decided to start ASAP to limit the damage done in the last 45 mins.

They most likely did it for damage control reasons. They'd still have to review everything that went on with this the same as if they had done it at the scheduled time. Given the severity, expect a big extension to the scheduled time of the maintenance.

Exactly this. Especially if our RMT "friends" have managed to actually hack a part of the game itself. Depending on the severity I'd expect the game to be down for at least 12 hours.

Also; are the forums slow for anyone else or am I going to have to yell at my ISP again?

I'm reading other threads and there is speculation that it started early because of the gil hacks ppl are experiencing. I was in the middle of Titan HM when ppl in my party started 90k'ing out and we had 38 minutes before the scheduled maintenance.

At this point I fully expect SE to come out and say that they're re-re-releasing the game. It seems there's some server architecture problems. Those aren't exactly easy to band-aid.

Or they can just ignore it until the next issue. I don't know if people exactly mind. I'm kinda neutral myself. Until it personally affects me I guess.

Did anyone stop to think about the fact that DST hasn't happened in Japan and they may have forgotten about that as well? Its a possibility.

I'll add to the QQing. Not only did it start early, but the frequency of the down time is getting friggin ridiculous.
