My thoughts are that it's WAY too early to even think about a cap increase.

Yeah man, I want every craft and DoL at 50 before they raise the cap so that I can have complete control over the market rather than having to spend my resources on one or two crafts while not having time to take extras to the caps.

i think they need to think about cap increases, people have been level 50 for months. Also getting battle figured out extends past this cap, it will always need to be adjusted, unless you plan on getting no new skills and essentially the same playstyle for your whole career. Adding cap quests will be a milestone, and content, its not a bad idea, doing it per class makes some sense, though it should then not be the same quest for every class, and should also be soloable, because if its not the same for every level 50, good luck trying to get help doing it if you arent in a LS.

I opened a similiar thread some time ago, asking for people what they would think about implementing Maat again.

I really would love to see that f....g, awesome old man who kicked all our asses again :P

i dont think we need maat, they can have new charachters who kick your ass, probably better if they were varied per job. Dont need 1 old man ruling every class.

I still don't have 1 class @ 50. All my own fault though. I've created & deleted many characters and take a lot of breaks. With so many people having lots of capped classes it's a pretty big mess. I jokingly suggest character wipes for PS3 a lot, but that would just piss off a big chunk of the dedicated players left. They'll have to do something(like cap raising) to keep you multiple r50 people busy when you quickly burn through all the content they dish out. = D

I think they need to raise the cap to its max level fairly shortly for 3 reasons:

    1) Ps3 needs endgame at release... and if 50 is endgame it is too low.
    2) If they do level increases in smaller increments like most mmos do it will negate content.
    3) Half the playing population has capped classes, some many capped classes. (you do not want your dedicated players beating a mmo.. that is how you lose ppl)

So they need to increase it to 70-75-99 or what ever cap will be for the next 10yrs. Develop content for it that will be valid for those next 10yrs. So in the end we have an endgame as vast as XI's was with more possible events then any 1 person hardcore or casual could do in a weeks time.

If they leave it where it is... then we will either have a game where content is negated when they increase the cap (the you have 3month of content after an expansion scenario alot of mmos have). Or half the current players quitting because they "beat" the game.

    1. why would ps3 need endgame at release? they will all be low level for a long time?
    2. people say it negates content, but... you should have interesting things to do at all levels, not just at level limit.
    3. many people got capped classes, this i agree with

I think they need to raise the cap, because people are everything right now, because they have no choice. It makes sense that someone gets to use thier high level skills on different jobs, but when everyone has leveled everything, because there is nothing else to do, you end up having everyone with the same skills. When cap is for example 99, people probably arent going to be able to pull from skills from 4 different classes that often. Crafters are going to be more specialized just by what they choose to level, instead of simply having every single craft leveled.

far as content, one good measure is having things scale up, or having gear that can grow as you level, IE if you got some great gear at 50, that you can upgrade till 75, then its valuable, but not so much so that it negates new gear, or has a bunch of 75s trying to get it over level 50 people.

Also we havent really got our class defining super skills in this game yet, i mean maybe you get one or two, but thats about it. And monsters are way tougher, marlboros, dragons, etc, all of them are much higher, and should be. The enemies you fight should get progressively tougher as you level, and i dont think most of the enemies got to be too tough till about 30ish. There is still a large curve in terms of cool monsters/monster abilities and types that we should experience, as we progress higher.
By the end of an FF your supposed to be fighting behemoths and adamtoises and marlboros etc as regular monsters. We havent even come close to where we need to be in terms of different monsters and gears and progression from being newbs to be at the official cap.

That said they need to decrease the exp tnls for the high levels, if 50 is only mid level it shouldnt take as long to get there. Though i will say that some of the current exp systems focus too much on leves and linking and dropping for way too much experience gain versus normal activities.
