New SE MMO announced, abandon ship everyone

In a financial meeting, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada said the company was working on a big MMO in addition to Final Fantasy XIV. "I think we will reveal it sometime this year," said Wada.

Is SE creating something like FEZ to create a second pillar of income like they state or could this be the backup plan because they know FFIV is going to sink.

I believe this is just them looking for a way to receive some income, and they won't abandon FFXIV since they said themselves that it is a numbered title and they want it to live up to that standard.

they already said they want several mmos running simultaneously, they also already stated that they have no intention of letting a numbered entry into the FF franchise go tits up.

Square has been working on multiple mmos for awhile now. This news is nothing new.

Looks up Wakfu, it is in beta atm and will be released soon. And there are a few others.

I'm sure FFXIV will be profitable someday maybe 5 years from now like FFXI problem with that is in between those years there will be better MMOS out within that timeframe than FFXIV. I only say this because even though FFXI was broken and unfinished at launch it was way better than FFXIV

Not to mention they wouldnt want to throw all that $$$ and time / effort they spent working so hard on the game. I highly doubt their going to abandon FFXIV. To me the OP is just looking for some drama to start.
