Have you considered that some of those DF members that cause trouble are doing it intentionally to create a need for these "mercernary titan killers" if you want to call them that? As it is now you can't trust the DF for a group of people that actually want to kill it. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people out there that try to funnel you into thier trap through frustration, I'll never give those kind of people my money though and I hope more people don't.

This. You can clearly tell when someone is doing it on purpose. Last night I did a DF just before going to bed and wow was everyone motivated got to p5 first try and every try after that for about 3 or 4 turns before someone got tired and had to go to bed. Then you get the run where someone is genuinely new and you can tell...but then you get the guy claiming he's new doing things that make no sense. Like running down the tunnel of a landslide instead of perpendicular to it trying to escape it.

I have considered that, and I'm sure there are people out there doing that. Heck, I may have been 'trapped' by it, but in the end, I didn't give them my money, I gave them in-game currency, which is different, unless you buy gil. Despite knowing that people are out there intentionally sabotaging DF runs, though, I didn't care. In the end, I got what I paid my Gil for, and I don't consider making gil in a game as 'work', or at the very least, I consider it fun work. I wouldn't pay a monthly fee of IRL money to do something I don't like, so if I didn't find it enjoyable to save up gil, I wouldn't do it.
