Am I forced to make a healer to enjoy this game?

If anyone is on Leviathan and need help I'm always down to do lower level dungeons...I'm a level 20 CNJ and level 34 BLM. I've got friends who will also help fill out a dungeon group

Same problem here but my FC has been quite cooperative when I needed to do Titan. get a good FC. If they don't help, leave and get another. The more the merrier, obviously, since you need people online at all time.

I just started this, how the heck are summoners not able to queue in as healers?

You could technically have a thaumaturge with the "cure" spell and "raise" heal you through the first 3 dungeons (lvl 15, 16, 17). After that however (lvl20 and up), you will notice that it gets steadily harder for non-healer classes to support the party. Arcanist can technically heal until lvl30 (with difficulty as your tank needs to be well-geared), but it is more difficult since the class lacks any large heal spells until they reach scholar at lvl30.

Pre-made parties do not have to follow the 1tank,2dps,1heal format and many healing arcanists have been subbed in as healer for those. The problem is that you have to queue with a 4- or 8-person party to escape this requirement on the dutyfinder. This means the party will only be from people on your server, and depending on how new the server is, you may have difficulty finding a party.

Probably the same reason why Arcanists can't queue as healers. Summoners lack a lot of healing spells Scholars get, not to mention a heal Fairy.

It will hopefully get better down the line. One issue you're having is that not only are you a DPS, but you're also queuing for a dungeon nobody does on a regular basis. Not many people do the lower level dungeons more than 1 time for their storyline or GC hunting log. Hopefully, once they implement the random duty finder and increase xp in dungeons this will change.

I'm making a LS and potential FC on Leviathan named 'Benevolence' for this very purpose - helping new players to come together and make parties to clear low level content while hopefully getting a few 'helpful vets' to help run them, as well. Just made the LS last night so hope anyone that needs friends to do the low level story dungeons gives it a look. I made this LS because I felt bad for how long some people have to wait just to progress their story, since everyone at 50 only really needs to run them all once and often never go back ^^

Don't make a healer unless you can handle people complaining that everything is your fault when the party wipes. Actually tanks get parties ALOT faster than healers do still. My warrior gets a DF party practically always immediately while my healer usually waits anywhere from 0 to 10 minutes.
