You do know the developer said: They wanted the summon size to be larger, however they ran into a coding issue so they are much smaller than planned.

tl;dr The egi's are the size that they are due to the developers not knowing how to code properly (according to the developers)

We already have 2 different role Magic pet jobs. Game needs something it doesn't have (Thief/Stealth) or some of the other popular jobs from the series.

After more demanding/popular jobs are introduced from the series and a melee job /w pet. I can maybe see another magic pet class/job years ahead.

Personally, I'd prefer that the current SMN job be renamed to 'Evoker'. I understand what the devs were going for with the job, but it is a sorry excuse for what a FF summoner should be.

And your concept for "High Summoner" could be used for a new "Summoner" job.

On the Zodiac espers, I've always been a huge fan of them, even more than our classic FF summons. But according to in-game lore, they are MORE powerful than the Primals (see current SMN storyline). If SMN can't have Primals, then the Zodaic Espers are far out of reach.

Instead, SMN should draw from the vast pool of other FF summons

    Our best options include:
    • ASTRAL: King Mog XII, Valefor
    • ICE: Phantom, Mist Dragon
    • WIND: Typhon, Pandamonium
    • WATER: Bismarck, Siren
    • EARTH: Midgardsormr, Golem
    • THUNDER: Quezacotl, Ixion
    • FIRE: Cerberus, Salamander
    • UMBRAL: Catoblepas, Fenrir

Still, good job OP. I highly approve of any attempt to fix the travesty that is the current FFXIV SMN job.

Totally like the idea. Mainly Evoker, DoM class that is a tank. Not so much the High Summoner part.

I don't like that part because I think it's unlikely SE will bring in another summoner job that is a lot like the current Summoner job. Being a healer, I also have a problem with this class healing their summons. At least, that is what I see as being the main goal of the person for this job. Doesn't it take away a bit from the Healer role?

My suggestion would be Evoker, Job from the Thaumaturge class. They use stored magical energy to buff their defenses. They would primarily be a multi target tank. I do see them conjuring up a spirit of some sort, that will be placed in an area for buffs/hate. But it wouldn't have the range or complexity of a summon. They could use the aether planes to phase out, which would be their defensive spells.

There are also no Dark Knights, Red Mages, and any other thing that will be added in the future.

Summons are not only primals, but chocobos, Familiars , and EGI. The term Summon just means to call on something.

Espers are not in the game, but your acting like new content cant be added because its not in the game now.

And no, Primals are not the only form of summoning.

and the lore of the game has it that not only are they the gods of the beastmen, it takes an enormous amount of aether to summon - the beastmen requires a whole team of summoners to summon a Primal.
No one is asking to Summon Primals, This Esper idea isnt Primals and have nothing to do with primals.

Carbuncle is a familiar, so this proves that we can summon other things, and not just primals or primal essences.

I see Espers as Beings from another dimension.. and not Primals.

Your acting as if lore is never added when new jobs or areas get implemented.

This is why SMN got the mini-summons, it's not only a gameplay concession (to prevent server instability with five hundred SMNs all with their summons out on screen at once), it's a lore-based one as well - you're only summoning the essence of a Primal.
Sure thats why they let everyone summon chocobos, minions, and soon to be path companions.

Thanks for explaining the Lore behind the summoner job lol. I didnt think i knew that, thanks.

Can you guys give the we cant summons primals talk a rest, no one wants that.

You're just beating around / reconning / bending the lore. You and I both know you're simply using this as a mask to cover what you really want: Summoner to have bigger pets with more abilities. You do want to summon the primals / clones of them ala FFXI, that's why you invented this class/job in the first place. You're just calling it something else.

Adding another class called "evoker" makes little sense because of the AF for summoner already being called 'Evoker's <Item>".

I'd like the summons to be "cooler" just as much as you do; but adding a new job to do it is not the way to execute this.

This would work. The Devs can make this possible.

I want that, but as of now i think the first time ff players wouldnt want a rework since they have gotten used to the current summoner.

I cant wait to see how beast is like.. I hope its not like the current summoner.

It is unlikely, but we know more pet classes need to show up in the future.. it might not be summoner per say, but it can hold the gameplay of a pet focused summoner..

What if there were some kind of Mechanical summoner (Puppetmaster, or Machinist) that uses pets similar to the mechanical summons from FFXIII? would be kool.

yeah i didnt really detail the healing process. I was thinking that the job had limited stored energy, and can use it to give a regen effect. something minimal. The stored energy can be used to give it buffs or use it to attack, so the healing would be the last thing on the list.

This seems really kool, but i do have concern that it will end up like the current summoner since it comes off of THM.
