Its frustrating all the ppl saying that SE is not at fault here. We know they do not control how you get routed to the servers. Even tho that is out of their hands, mistakes on their part are what is really causing the issue.

If SE had the foresight to simply open servers in locations around EU, and NA.. Than anyone with routing based lag issues would simply play on another server. However.. It was in SE's infinite wisdom that all EU/NA players should play in the same data center. This is the real issue. Not crappy segments in TATA's rout to the servers. The real issue is SE's stupid idea of all servers in one location.

Transferring worlds for me didn't help. I transferred from Sargatanas to Excalibur and it's the same problem. I suspect it may be something to do with their NA/EU datacenter. I wonder if there will be lag on the JP servers from where we're at...

Adding my two cents here. I've been playing on Titan (JP) since launch. Never, EVER had ANY hint of lag whatsoever that wasn't caused by my own connectivity. I disconnected once, because my area had an internet outage. That's all.

I've dabbled on NA servers here and there and my experience is the exact same; no lag at all.

So, if ffxiv lost 50% of its player base...and subs, wonder if se would do something then? ....absolute crap service tbh and I wont be re subbing! :-)

Open a support ticket with both your ISP and SE, giving specifics about your connection---preferably including the results of a tracert to the 199.xxx.xxx.xxx IP your client is using. At the very least, include the IP address of the server your game actually is using and let SE know who your ISP is and what city/state. This gives them a glimpse of where you are coming from and going to, and affords a means to at least have a list of all the players in between you and SE. With any luck, it may provide some clues as to a potential choking point in route they can investigate and hopefully get at least that part of your problem resolved.
this is so unhelpful.. my isp does not throttle anything and still im getting the lag. I know ppl who play on dedicated T1 and they lag so take ur isp garbage and......

they would probably claim they got rid of lag if they lost 50% of the player base because the problem is not big enough servers and then if people came back so would the lag

This^ Please may i remind you all. IT IS NOT SOLELY SE'S FAULT HERE. From what i understand from everyone in this thread. In order to fix the problem you want SE to magically force a 1 way connection from your modem to their datacenters. Adding more datacenters will not always fix a problem. Just like adding more servers did not fix the DF/Instance problem we had back at launch

It is their fault. It's there network code that is unable to handle routing on the internet with packet loss over TCP. It is their responsibility to fix.

Do you really believe people will continue to pay for a service that is unacceptable? Either SE fixes it (no one cares how they fix it), or they lose all the people having these routing issues. It's pretty clear who the responsible party here is.

To clarify, I am not on SE's side. I do believe they need to at least make a statement. ie.

"we have received the tracert's and narrowed down the latency problems and are working with the providers at those locations."

Maybe they ARE working with them, but they do not want to make a statement until they get confirmation about the source/fixing of the problem. I give SE the benefit of the doubt right now because I know they are aware of the consequences of NOT acting. Large companies like this have a lot of restrictions about how and at what point in progress they are allowed to make public statements. I would rather them wait, than lie.

Edit: also, I do find it odd that they chose one location for all servers, they either thought the game was not going to be popular, or they are working with new technology. I am not sure the reasoning but it sounds like a bad decision from stage 1.
