It's "I couldn't care less" not "I could care less".

If you "could" care less then you care, the point is you're saying you don't.

    That one always bugs me.

Oh, and op, how about you offer to merge but to hand the leadership to the smaller guild? Ie: you join them? If what you want is simply a bigger group of players and not just a larger roost to rule, this shouldn't be a problem.

Some people would rather play with friends than get pulled into a bunch of FC drama with a bunch of strangers that couldn't give two whits about them save for what gear/classes/skill they have.

The group you play with makes the mmo for a lot of people. Back when my LS was 15 people in 2 not very compatible playtimes, we were happy. Now that our FC is about 35 active we are still happy. No one gets to come in and stay unless they make a good addition to the original core group of people.

Who some of us play with is more important than the ability to beat content.

Plus we don't use the in game need/greed system or take attendance. /dance

It always shocks me when grammar teachers come on forums...everybody knew exactly what he was saying man.

If we had a 4-7 person FC we would gladly merge with a larger one. However, we're at 40 and so it makes little sense for us to merge into a 4-7 person...don't you think?

I would gladly merge as long as I keep my FC leader rank.

It may come as a shock to some but not everyone wants to be doing endgame content right now.

My 4 person FC consists of my family. I have been approached to merge a couple of times. I explain the situation and all but twice I got a Good Luck and Take Care response. In one case I was harassed to point of a gm report. The other was just plain rude that I said no thanks.

FC mergers are well and good but there will always be those that fall to the way side orfeel that it's not for them or are just run out completely.

My small group will not take that chance. Its either we are in charge and not subjected to the boot, or being put on the side lines for a raid because said FC/Guild already has its main "group" and you are screwed or we stay guildless. This has been expressed more times then I can count by my friends, my wife, and myself. You may think that's retarded but hey, that's how we are. If there are others who want to join and have fun then they can join us. I have been a guild leader since 1997 in Ultima Online. The few times I have handed over the reigns and joined someone else, and followed someone else I have been burnt and that will never happen again. The small group that we are is more then enough to keep us playing as long as we are in charge. The minute my wife, me, and my friends who are going to be officers are not, is the very minute that the FC/Guild goes down hill as has been our experience.

Education is shocking to you? I wasn't being mean, I was simply sharing some knowledge. Sorry that offends you.

And it shouldn't matter even if you have the larger FC, if all you want is more people then offering them the leadership shouldn't be an issue at all.

Thanks for wanting to bring smaller groups into your fold, it's a really nice gesture. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out for you.

Let me tell you why I won't be joining a big FC, yet.

My husband and I met in FFXI. We did a lot of content together, picking up a few people we knew when a group was needed and occasionally befriending new or returning players. We've always wanted shared housing or storage for married couples. He's a better player than I am, and would often get drops that would have been useful for me. But, FFXI gets frustrating after a while, and FFXIV happened.

When housing and free companies were announced for 2.0, we were thrilled. We wanted to find out if we could have our own free company. He started the charter, I signed it, I created 2 mules on the same world, they signed it, and voila! Our very own free company. We now have shared storage. He gathers, puts them in the chest, I craft and put the gear in the chest. Our cash goes in there to save towards housing, we can even mule stuff to my alts since they're in the free company as well.

This is what we've always wanted, and we won't give it up for anything.

However, when the ability to ally yourself to another free company is enabled, then we may go shopping for a group to join up with. We won't lose anything we've waited so long to have, and we'll hopefully gain a group of friends in-game.

Hopefully, you'll keep extending invitations to smaller groups you want to help. Maybe when the alliance option is available, they'll be more agreeable to joining you guys.
