I laugh at anyone who thought this game would be playable by NA whinebaby standards before a year of postrelease development was done. The same happened in FFXI. I wanna say 80% of the content we had as NA from Day 1 was from a years post release development including an expansion. When it was released in japan they had 6 jobs, few quests, and no Valkurm dunes.

I'm not making excuses for the failure. I'm trying to point out that those of us who were there were not expecting 9 years worth of content updates and developmental evolution on day one like everyone else seemed too think there would be.

Day one has long been gone, and you missing the point.
Nobody expects 9 years worth of content, what we do expect, at least me is game worthy updates.

I played FFXI for 6 years, this game doesn't hold a candle vs FFXI even the first year.

Anyway leaving again, I just had to QQ a bit after this patch, going back to EVE which I have been playing all the time.

Lets see what 1.18 brings, I bet you now that it will also be a big let down.

Out of curiously, how often do you buy a game you don't like and blame the developer for tricking you into buying it?

The last game I bought that truly disappointed me was Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2. I was outraged that it was such a piece of poop compared to the CGI trailer and how much I enjoyed the first one - I was mad at the developer for making a bad game, but whose fault is it that I bought it? Who's fault is it that I played it from start to finish and didn't return it immediately after 2 levels? (Well to be fair the game just sort of ended when I expected it to be at least 2x longer...). I wasted my own time and my own money by not ensuring it was a quality product before buying it.

I wasn't pleased with FFXIII either, but somehow I was SO SURE XIV would be good. I even played Open Beta - and told myself not to judge a game by the Beta because so much polish goes into the final product (sometimes? lol). I had only myself to blame and I still play it everyday. (Well, I enjoy it now that it is functionally playable and I have a miniscule amount of things to keep me busy).

At some point I made a choice: Play this game and get ahead while it's free and crappy. Stop playing and wait for it to get good (if it ever does). If it doesn't get good and I play it, I wasted my own time. I have no one to blame but myself. If I stop playing and it gets good, I guarantee I'll be mad I don't have 5+ Rank 50 classes like everyone who did play.

That's just me though. It's my competitive mentality. I made the choice that would work best for me even though I may get burned in the end. I have no one to blame but myself and honestly that's how most people should assess the situation.

you know, small kids like to whine about everything, they always want something they dont have.....

they never bring positive energy .... and for sure, complain is so much easier then use the brain and find solutions...

thats why i think forums are 95% useless...

Well this doesn't Surprise me at all, in fact thats all I been hearing ever since the Forums Launched.

It's getting kinda pathetic to be honest with you..

80% of the player base on the Forums have nothing really constructive, and when you do 2 pages later it gets gunned down by trolls and the Idea is basically trash =(.

Why cant we as a whole join together have creative discussions and not troll , so that SE Can feel good about themselves.

I know if I was a SE employee and I been seeing all this crap people throw out here I wouldn't want to bother either making the game great, because there is no motivation behind it.

Think it is a common issue with all MMO boards in the general discussion sections. Folks would probably get trolled less if they posted there ideas/suggestions/criticism in the appropriate sections because lets face it most of the trolls just hang out in general discussion.

I actually expect 1.18 to be good. New content which will last longer than 1 day, won't be copy-pasted and boring. I expect better battle system (a little more than auto attack). SE said we will get those in 1.18 if not.. then sorry but SE deserves to die tbh. How long people should wait 'till the game has any quality to it? It's been how many months since release? I'm happy SE is loosing money this year.. maybe they will work faster when they are on the edge.

Well I think people would if people used them more, also I think it would be easier on Devs if they wanted to brows subjects.

This is 2011, we've had world problems, including major wars since the dawn of time really. It's 2011, we shouldn't have issues still. It's 2011, why does my car still have occasional mechanical troubles? This is 2011, where's my hovercars? This is 2011, where's my floating cities or cities ala Jetsons style?

The year vs year doesn't matter because the real world alone proves this is a false statement to make. It's not an excuse, it's just how their MMOs were at the start. They heavily improve overtime (and no content will not improve FFXIV like it did with and FFXI since it has more problems than lack of content.)

You can tell a big difference between XI's release and XIV's release and which game got rushed out.
