Great, the bots have become smarter

SE should look in to hiring some of these guys so they can maybe finally get an idea how the RMT always seem to know their software better than them. Seriously, some of these bot designers are quite intelligent and always seem to know how to circumvent programming in this game and manipulate with so much ease, yet it's increasingly difficult for SE to fix these loopholes, implement efficient counter measures, or simply ban certain RMT activity that all of us so blatantly see on a everyday basis.

Then again, maybe some of these RMT could be jaded ex-programmers of this software, just a thought since it seems they know their way around it so well.

Bots? What bots? there are no bots in our game. Everything is perfect and fine with the world of Eorzea. Please return to your game and pretend that you saw nothing.

Devs made a response in the recent letter from the producer live. It goes into some detail. You can find it in the dev tracker where they posted the full Q&A from the Live Letter. Its on the first page post #6: Q: In Regards to Cheating

Unfortunately, in the case of gathercrafting, that means you need to have the class active to target the nodes.

They're under the map in order to most likely stop people targeting/seeing their names to report them. Had a bit of a shock in Central Thanalan when this happened last week. Fortunately due to the geography in certain areas their names were visible above ground and I was able to report them.

Yeah, if they screw up (or maybe SE patches in random coordinate offsets -- seems to be the implied solution), the names will be above ground. You will also see them floating if they offset the wrong direction. Here's an example:

The last game I played used one of those third-party security programs: X-trap. It was a pain in the djigga for some people (who couldn't get past it) but it practically eliminated all bot programs, as well as all legitimate gaming hardware (keyboards, mouses, etc.). I highly doubt SE will go in that direction though.

Also, while the PK idea is interesting, people would just use it to kill defenseless gatherers.

Could be nice if perhaps, they put in abyss worms under the ground, similar to goblin bounty hunters. Have them have a gigantic radius, one hit insta-kill, draw in, etc to anyone underground, ignore the rest.

Their primal could just just be a giant, obese middle aged man on his laptop. His ultimate attack would be the site names hurtling towards you taking 20gil away per hit

have you made a video of someone gathering with stealth on? not sure you can select them either. might also explain why it takes so long between nodes since stealth is walking speed.

A stealthed player just appears ghosted. They're fully clickable and their name tab is there. To all intents and purposes a stealthed player is only hidden from mobs, not players.

Not saying those ones in particular aren't bots, mind, but most characters running around with names like that are more likely to be roleplayers.

Good point. On my server, I've yet to see a single player character using a Dunesfolk Lala naming scheme who isn't a bot, so it's easy to forget. Then again, what human being in their right mind would willingly call their character "Pufufu Pufu"?
