forced to rank in a grand company to move to another?

Don't get me wrong Wildsprite, I was in your shoes. I chose Gridania and wanted to join Ul'dah almost immediately after. My reason for switching was stupid, I wanted the Flame Salute emote. Yup. That's it. But honestly you haven't given any of us a reason for why you want to switch, just that you don't want to rank up. And if you don't want to rank up, I can only assume you also want an emote, since that's really all you get without ranking up.

As I said in the beginning, you will be max rank by the time you hit 50. I did not FATE grind to 50, I played through the story. BUT, there are a couple levels here or there between minimum lvl requirements for the quest that you will end up grinding on FATEs. If you're not wasting the seals on any of the gear, which you really don't need anyway, you will have more than enough for max rank and switching by the time you're 50.

Just play the game and have fun. Right now you're looking at it like an unscaleable wall, when really it's just a hill.

Also this is an MMO dont expect to do everything fast, if you want fast them maybe you need to go play an offline single player game. In this case the requirements are fine no change is needed, there is no reason what so ever to relax the requirements to change Grand Companies.

this guy fails to tell you that if you dont have any jobs at lvl 50 you wont get max rank or the ability to get max rank.

In 1.0 you couldnt change GCs EVER, and there were still level gates to progress. What's your point?

he probably rushed his way to lv50 on more than 1 job. and I have little doubt he FATE spammed to get those ranks.

I did some fate, mostly from 47-50 since Arcanist was the only class I had left to level still in 2.0. Fact is, I didn't even bother with FATE until I leveled as far as I could on story and side quests. I also wasted a bunch of potential seals, because I didn't know about the Lieutenant GC change feature til I was practically 50 all.

besides that why are you people making excuses for a system that is clearly flawed. getting max rank to change to another grand company is both stupid and ridiculous

something like earning a certain amount of seals to get a pass would be acceptable but I dont want to have to keep going back to an inconvenient location to rank up in a GC I dont even want to be in

Your first two points are merely assumption.
Secondly, it would behoove you to learn how to cordially bring your issue to the table and actually discuss/debate it. You just walking in and ranting with such vitriol, "A SLAP IN THE FACE, BROKEN, FLAWED, RIDICULOUS, RAAAWWWWRRRRR;" and labeling people as 'white knights' for the heinous act of disagreeing with you...that will get you nowhere fast. There is a right and a wrong way to address things, and the anonymity provided by the internet does not make it okay to be uncivil.

That is exactly what I am saying, and be more careful next time. Think things over a bit more thoroughly. Especially when the game repeatedly warns you beforehand to choose carefully. Aren't you merely perpetuating an argument about what he said or she said?

If we wish to remain on topic, the core points are:

• This new 2.0 feature was implemented, when GC switching was not allowed before in 1.0 .
• There are very clear warnings about how your initial GC choice would be for the long term.
• In terms of defining what "long term" means: A dedicated, competent player could switch within 8 hours of joining their first GC, assuming they are level 47+.

If you cannot deal with the mistake that you made in skipping said warnings and dialogue, there is still no solid reasoning for blaming SE or demanding they remove said prerequisite.
